Treliving discusses the draft and what they'll be looking for in free agency.
(Here's the link in case the embedding doesn't work: https://video.nhl.com/videocenter/em...ue&site=flames)
Regarding free agency:
Defence is first priority, then scoring (depending on Cammalleri's situation) and a backup goalie.

Why waste money on any overpaid, worn out UFA. Trade for a good young prospect in exchange for taking on someones bad contract. Unless we have to hit the cap floor

Good luck with that. The reason he was traded in the first place is because he didn't want to waste what's left of his career playing for a rebuilding team.

Honestly why would he go there if he wants to win a cup? I don't see him being enough to help them get into the playoffs. Lowest scoring team in the league isn't a good spot for an aging goalscorer looking to win a cup. Would be dumb for him to sign there only to join the Flames in April golf.

The only way Iggy goes to Van is on a long term deal at $7M per. Otherwise he is chasing cups not dollars and Vancouver is far away from a cup

If Iggy was going to sign with Vancouver, why wouldn't he just sign with the Flames?
Both teams are trash and rebuilding, but at least he wouldn't tarnish his reputation with Flames fans.

Iginla can go anywhere but Calgary. Don't need the cancer in the locker room right after the Flames have finally re-established their hard working identity. No more floaters.

Man, I really wish people could keep themselves from using the word 'cancer' in reference to Iginla.

They can push all they want but Iginla is not going to tarnish his legacy by going there. The man would instantly be dead to me along with many other Flames fan.

My apologies if this has been posted - but what time can teams start signing free agents? Is it 12:01am on July 1st? Or is there some set time like 10am MST that morning?

So with this courting period do we see the bulk of the FA signings at the opening bell?
Could actually make Frenzy day awesome for once.

I think the free agency plans for most teams have held up potential trades. Last year there was the Bobby Ryan trade on the first day of free agency but I wouldn't be surprised to see 3-4 fairly big deals on July 1 this year.
I really think the flames could be involved in some cap crunch deals

Yes, I'm sure they'd love to do that and have been looking for opportunities to do so. That's the ideal thing they can do, but they are going to have to do other things.
Suggesting the the Flames should simply do that is like saying something like, "why miss the playoffs, just win the Stanley cup, much better".

Time for you to get some rest after an exciting draft week-end. Log off and go take a nap.
