I remembered this pick at the gym today and it gave me energy.
Total pullups done: zero
... oh

Haha. I set up a camera to try and get the exact pull-up I wanted for the shirt. I did THREE and none of them looked any good at all.
Thankfully there's no pull-up bars on the ice!

Bennett says he is ready and will try to make the team out of camp. Is this realistic?

Can he put ten pounds of muscle on before camp? No one need to rush this kid. Especially himself. I mean if he earns his way on to he team, awesome. But I'm betting on him being sent back for one more year of seasoning.
No Rush as Monahan, Backlund and Stajan got this for now.
I think Stajan is Bennetts place holder on the main roster.

If Bennett is that determined I'm not sure there's much that can get in his way. He's a high tempo, high energy player by nature and may just out work everyone at camp. But guaranteed he'll need to put on weight this summer if he wants a legitimate chance.

Im more interested in whether Pascal will push for him to go to the world juniors if he were to make the team.

I think not on the Flames and a big part of the WJC is a pretty safe prediction.

I can't see him beating out Stajan, Backlund or Monahan.
And I sure as hell don't want to see him on the 4th line playing 10 minutes a night.
There's no hurry, he is one of the younger players in the draft (he just turned 18 last week). Let him develop physically and have a dominant season in the OHL and on the WJC team

If he does tear it up in the 9 game tryout, I hope the Flames take a good, long look at what's best for the Flames and Bennett in the long run. Last thing we need is for him to be rushed like Nugent-Hopkins and suffer a bad injury.

Awesome quote about Bennett from his new future team mate, 6-foot-7, 220-pound (RW) Hunter Smith:
"This guy [Bennett] competes. I played him six times last season and I think it was the third game off the face-off... he ran me over.. And I was like, 'this kid's a player'. He's skilled and he's gritty coming after the biggest player on the ice and put me down. That's his compete level."

Knocking down 6'7 Smith. I wanna see what he can do to Draisatl.

I hate how everyone on the internet talks about the pull-ups. Can't wait till he proves them wrong.

To be fair, that's not saying much.

Bennett could beat Monahan in an interview with one lip tied behind his back.

Given what we've heard about Treliving's philosophy on development, I highly doubt it. In fact I would not even be surprised if he were given next year to bulk up as well.
But no reason not to give him every opportunity if he thinks he can make it now.

I don't see him sticking next year. Monahan did it last year because the flames were thin at center and other prospects were not pushing for spots. Reinhart, Granlund, Knight, Arnold will all be pushing for spots. Backlund is finally established as a legit top 3 line C. Monahan and Stajan also employ top 9 roles.
Bennett would have to gain 10-15lbs and be completely lights out to stick. With Sven, Johnny, Granlund d, Reinhart all legitimately pushing for a spot next year I don't see Sam getting past 9 games.
He will likely step in playing an impact role in 15/16 however

I wouldn't be surprised to see some of those 9 games played on the wing, either.

Highly skilled but 5'6".
Top speed, lacks hockey sense.
Great shot, poor skating.
Good heart and soul player, needs to work on foot speed.
High character player, will block a shot with his face, projects to be a 3rd liner.
'a legitimate, high-end player," with "a 200-foot game and off-the-chart intangibles

That's what drafting high should do, highest draft pick ever for the Flames. I've been saying it for a while now, I think he's the #1 guy from this draft, beyond excited he fell to the Flames. Reminds me a lot of Colorado's Matt Duchenne, not as fast (who is) but he has that highly skilled game along with the desire to play at both ends. Not the biggest guys, but not small either.
Duchene drafted 3rd overall in his year, Bennett 4th in his year. Both were passed over because of a huge blueliner.

A Duchene comparable who grew up idolizing Gilmour would be a perfect storm
