I think big forwards like this will find it difficult to find a place in the NHL.

Smith can spend two more seasons in the OHL as well as a season or two in the AHL. No need to rush him.

Worth noting again that we very likely could've traded these two picks for Tampa's pick (Ho-Sang).

If Gillies and Ortio pan out, we don't even need McDonald.

Despite the terrible draft coverage, I'd love to see Jack Glover or Ryan Collins at 64.

Why I ask? Curious why you think that when we see that size was a priority for lots of teams yesterday.

Well, at least the Flames got Bennett. McDonald is a Cam Wardish style goaltender. Not bad, not great. Don't know why we needed a goalie that early though.

gotta think the flames start getting some d-men?
Not a big fan of the 2nd round there, would of liked both of those traded into a mid/late first rounder

Jack Glover or Ben Thomas with their first 3rd?

They nailed the G and RW pick. Now we need a RHD or two. Get them!

6'7" is doable as a defenceman, but how many forwards that big are currently playing in the NHL (short of goons)?

Collins is gone, but Glover or Alexis Vanier would be interesting.

We basically just took Brian Boyle if things pan out.

Smith didn't score more than 1 point until last season. I hope the Flames can develop his game. I don't want another Nemisz situation.

Honestly, I think Ho-Sang is exactly the opposite of what the Flames are and need. I'm certainly not happy with McDonald and Smith though.

I was confident the Flames could get MacInnis, Glover, Dougherty, McKeown at 34 and possibly another at 54. To perhaps not get any? Ugh.

Having 3 good goalie prospects won't hurt. We can always trade whoever is 3rd. Look what San Jose got for kipper
