it's pretty much mandatory that we start getting some larger guys that can play on the top 2 lines. Draft as many big right wingers or dmen that we can, the priority has to change. We've got a plethora of young talent and speed, now we need some size that can skate and help. There's just no way we can compete with LA, Anaheim or Colorado if we don't start adding some size. It's going to be a tough year for the younger guys coming up

I wouldn't mind if the rest of the draft was all defencemen.

I voted Lemiuex...but...

...I knew nothing of him. But he plays a hard-nosed game. That's very intriguing. Have to think Buffalo, Florida or Edmonton snag him though...but I wants him!

I'm hoping for Lemieux. To have a (bigger) Marchand-like player on the Flames would be amazing.

Who's the last pest the Flames have had? Ville Nieminen? And Ville could barely score. This Lemieux kid has skill to go along with his a-hole game.

Of course, Dougherty would address a need, so I'd be happy with him as well.

Mckeown and then Dougherty if Roland is gone. Either way, needs to be a D in my opinion.

I really want Demko with pick 34-seems like he could be a star in the making. For the next 3 picks i like any one of Kirkland, Haydon, or Iverson( because Dougherty, Glover, and Cornel won't be there)

He's slated to go so much later though. 6'7" monster could likely still be had in the 3rd round.

I've seen him slotted as high as the first. I think he goes in the second so if he's the guy they like grab him

I don't want Demko at 34 but I'd take a flyer on him at 54

I wouldn't look at him at 34, players that size generally carry a lot of risk. Then again, we took Kanzig last year and from everything I've read/heard, the Flames are pretty pleased with his development. 54? 64? 83? Sure. But wouldn't do it at 34.

ISS has him ranked 30th. He's the prototypical Western Conference big forward and the Flames badly need to start adding size to their prospect base he's also RW which means he can lineup with Sven or Johnny to ensure they don't get taken advantage of while still providing hopefully decent finish.

Barbashev, McKewon or Dougherty at 34. Hunter Smith at 54 if he's still available. I'd even think about Smith at 34 if Barbashev and McKewon are gone because I don't he'll last until 54.

Exactly. A good pick at 54. McKeown for me at 34 or Dougherty if McKeown is gone.

Barbashev/McKewon/Dougherty @ 34
Smith/Demko @ 54

My wet dream.

We need to get some defensemen into the system ASAP. These young D-men will probably take three to five years to develope into solid NHL players, so it's important to bring them in as early as possible in a rebuild. We don't want to be sitting here three years from now, in the Oilers position, overpaying second and third pairing D-men through FA trying to build a competent blueline.

He's such a greasy hockey player but the Flames could use a guy like Lemieux in their system and he's got a good nose for the puck.
