Looks like an even deal. Kesler is damaged goods.

my guess is they made this deal needing the pieces in it to move up to 1 for Reinhart

My 2 cents

Think Vancouver got the best deal they could get. If the rumors were true that the Ducks was just one of two places Kesler was willing to go, Ducks GM would have had all the leverage. Vancouver management has learned from their past mistakes, and wouldn't be willing to hold off on moving a player that doesn't want to be there.

Considerably worse from the net out. Honestly I thought they may have a bounce back season next year but now I just don't see it as they have no scoring depth past their first line and their goaltending tandem right now is as bad as there is in the NHL.

What sort of combination of those pieces gets you #1 though?

Only idiots are melting down. This is a good deal for us. Not something that blows it out of the water, but it is a good deal.

If Sbisa can get and stay healthy, this is a good deal for Van. Bonino had a break out year, and was great in the playoffs. A top 4 pairing guy, a top 6 forward and a 1st is a fair return for an over the hill, broken down Kesler, who may never hit 50 pts again.

The Canuck are now pretty deep on the back end so Tanev deal looks quite possible now. Tanev, and the 2 firsts for 1 over all.

I dont know, it seems like a fairly even trade for right now.

I can see Kesler bringing tension to that locker room with Getz and Perry used to being the alphas. The guy is a serious diva.

Billy Jaffe @BJaffe
Told Van wanted more players & picks from ANA but finally relented in Kesler trade. Obviously didn't want another Luongo situation.

Can you honestly say that the Canucks are a better team after the trade? If you can't it's a bad deal unless they get a gem with the 24th pick (doubtful) as that pick and #6 won't get it done for the 1st overall pick.

the only way this turns in to a loss for Vancouver is off over the next 2 years Kesler becomes his 2011 version again

but most of the posters here who watched him last year didn't think that's coming, and there's a reason Canucks fans were so excited about him being dealt

I agree. Vancouver got good value for a player with a NMC and limited destinations. Bonino is a solid young center
