Step One: Draft Reinhart at #4

Step 2: Trade Giordano and our two 2nd round picks for Griffin Reinhart and #5

Step 3: Play an all Reinhart team in 2015

Step 4: Profit?

If it comes down to Johnny and Sven, it's got to be Sven.

If they deal Johnny for Ritchie I may never forgive them.

Ugh if they pick Ritchie over either Sam's - I may throw my TV out my window. I really hope Brad is just pumping the hype machine so Ekblad/Sam/Sam fall down to #4

I'm not a guy who wants to see Sven dealt, but I could understand why if Ritchie was the end game.

If management thinks Gaudreau is expandable, the most exciting prospect the flames have had since the 80's, then we are so, so, so, so, so, so, so, ####ed.

He has proven this year that his ceiling is higher than any prospect in this draft.

Literally the most exciting thing the Flames have going for them for the next 5 years is Gaudreau.

I wouldn't take the word of some SN hack will little actual connection to the Flames.

But that aside, if Florida wants to grab Ritchie they can go right ahead.

Look at the position though - if you project Gaudreau and Baertschi as both top 6 LW'ers, I can understand the organization wanting to move one of them in a deal for Ritchie as he also projects as a top 6 LW'er and brings a different dynamic than Gaudreau/Baertschi.

I would have to believe the Flames would be targeting Ritchie or Virtanen with that 2nd pick. Id be shocked if they were interested in Ehlers or Nylander.

If Treliving can somehow pull it off without losing Gaudreau, Monahan, or Brodie I'm all for it. If prefer keeping Sven too as I feel giving up on him this early may come back to haunt us, but you've got to give to get. Backlund + Sven + 2nd rounder for another top 10?

I don't see what Sven has done at the NHL or AHL level to make him an "elite" prospect. I highly doubt any of the teams we've talked to are interested in him although I'm sure he's become part of the conversation from our end.

If Gaudreau was "expandable" that would make him even more exciting. Mo more "he's too small" talk.

Why? Nylander has RW/C with a RH shot, something the teams values and needs just as much as size. Ehlers....Dude is top four skill in this draft. He'd be sick to have. The more to the world than Nick Ritchie.

Sven, I'd consider, but I really think Gaudreau should be off the table barring something outrageous, like an under 22 year old who has proven to be star in the NHL. Which isn't going to happen.

Ugh just don't get my hopes up of adding another pick like the Raptors last night, and end up with a total dud draft day.

Likely due to the fact that Ritchie has been named as being in our "top 5" and brings the much desired size-element.

Might as well load up for the next couple of years on draft picks. The old guys are not going to be around when things start improving so if you can dump them do it. And then you can let the young guys grow together.

Last years draft was great. Do it again this year and next and we should be good to go in about 2 to 3 years. Then you can start sprinkling in veterans to fill gaps or roles.

Agreed, I'd sooner move Sven than Johnny - I was just trying to explain why I could see management making such a move (such as Sven + 34 + a vet for the 5th pick).

If Flames could take some big salary/prohibitve (to some) contract along with the second top 10 pick, and give up a solid roster player, minor prospect, and a pick of their own (one of the second rounders), that would be ideal.

Carolina and FLA would be two teams to fit that mold of needing to maybe shed...FLA is likley out at #1.
