Ann Coulter being Ann Coulter. Brilliant stuff

http://www.clarionledger.com/story/o...ecay/11372137/

Quote:
If more "Americans" are watching soccer today, it's only because of the demographic switch effected by Teddy Kennedy's 1965 immigration law. I promise you: No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer.
Quote:
Individual achievement is not a big factor in soccer. In a real sport, players fumble passes, throw bricks and drop fly balls — all in front of a crowd. When baseball players strike out, they're standing alone at the plate. But there's also individual glory in home runs, touchdowns and slam-dunks.

In soccer, the blame is dispersed and almost no one scores anyway. There are no heroes, no losers, no accountability, and no child's fragile self-esteem is bruised. There's a reason perpetually alarmed women are called "soccer moms," not "football moms."
Quote:
Liberal moms like soccer because it's a sport in which athletic talent finds so little expression that girls can play with boys. No serious sport is co-ed, even at the kindergarten level.
Quote:
You can't use your hands in soccer. (Thus eliminating the danger of having to catch a fly ball.) What sets man apart from the lesser beasts, besides a soul, is that we have opposable thumbs. Our hands can hold things. Here's a great idea: Let's create a game where you're not allowed to use them!
Quote:
It's foreign. In fact, that's the precise reason the Times is constantly hectoring Americans to love soccer. One group of sports fans with whom soccer is not "catching on" at all, is African-Americans. They remain distinctly unimpressed by the fact that the French like it.

• Soccer is like the metric system, which liberals also adore because it's European. Naturally, the metric system emerged from the French Revolution, during the brief intervals when they weren't committing mass murder by guillotine.
I like it. If the conservatives start hating on soccer, inevitably about half of Americans will start supporting it just to piss them off

I just realized that the knockouts don't start tomorrow... so it's just the NHL draft, then.

Fifa should ask the already eliminated sides to play friendlies tomorrow so there will be football matches all month long. I love the group play as there're always matches played on every single day.

Germany will win the whole thing.

Not a chance they'll lose on penalty kicks at any point.

I like the break and the games slowing down from now on. I've been feeling a little soccer saturated for the last couple of days.

I've been surprised how much I've gotten into the World Cup this year, been watching a tonne on the weekend. That Portugal-USA game was great. With that in mind, what's with all the crappy start times during the week? I can't stream this stuff at work, I thought the advantage to having it held in the Americas would mean at least the odd prime time'ish game here & there. It feels like games are airing at the same time they would if this was in Spain or something.

Or am I just that much of a soccer noob, and games are never played in the evening? Too bad, I'm so into it all weekend, and then pretty much forget about it during the week, save for a 10min FAN960 wrap-up on my drive home.

yeah all games are played at european primetime except the Korea/Japan world cup which couldn't be avoided.

So World Cups in the Americas are always super hot. They played the 94 World Cup final in the Rose Bowl at noon which was insane. Or the 86 final in the Azteca at 2pm.

I didn't think of that GS.

Pasadena will be 27 C today (average 89F in July). Mexico City is high altitude and will be 20 C (average 75 F in July). Not as hot as other cities in the Americas would be.
