I'll be glad when all this is over tomorrow and we digest and analyse what we've done, good or bad. I just hope, regardless of what we do, people keep calm, patient and wait and see if the move we make turns out well in the long term. For me, there is no worst case scenario. Even if we move down, get an asset and take Ritchie, or trade a player and get #2 or #1 or stay where we are with #4, we will get a top quality player that fills a need.

It might be a big heavy centre, which would give us a solid forward spine for the next 10 years. It might be a smart playmaker, again something which we really could do with. Or it could be a potential top 2 D-man with an imposing physique. Or it could be a power winger with a potentially ridiculous upside. I'll take any of them.

I'm in favour. Moneyhands, Johnny, Brodie and Ramo are keepers and trade anyone else. Draisatl and Ekblad are going 1 and 2 and it's worth sacrificing the now for later. Even trade Sven, not because he has no value but because he does and the top 2 guys are worth it. Its easier to get playmaking left wingers than big franchise centerman or top 2 shutdown dmen.

Buffalo trades the #2 and Mark Pysyk to Calgary for #4, Sven Baertschi and the #34.

Seems to meet the needs for both teams going forward.

Why? What makes you say that? What is Reinhart lacking? The only knock I see to him is over-exposure from being the top prospect for the past two years.

Too soon to give up on Sven.
I dont know much about Pysyk however his stats are nothing to write home over where as Sven has shown much greater upside when he is confident. Imagine being that age and being hailed as if you were a Crosby. Play a few games with extreme success and then spend a summer trying to keep it out of your head!

He lacks elite speed, isn't particularly physical, doesn't have elite size. Saw a comparison today to Adam Oates. Oates was a great player and a top line centre but there's type of centres I would've take over Oates in his prime. Heard a quote from Loubardias or Cosentino that some scout he talked to said someone's job could be in jeopardy if they take Reinhart too high. I've seen quotes that Reinhart may make a better RWer because he's not speedy enough to cover all the ice you need to cover at the NHL level.

I like Reinhart but he isn't flashy and doesn't really stand out in any area except for hockey sense. Kind of torn on him. He seems similar to RNH. Is RNH the elite centre the Oilers need to lead them to the playoffs and then to the cup? Will Reinhart be a guy you want as your top line centre? Would he even supplant Monahan for us? I think they'd make a great 1-2 punch. That said Draisaitl is a great playmaker too and has better size and puck protection so why not take him over Reinhart? Bennett has better speed and grit while still having tremendous skill so why not take him over Reinhart?

I like all 3 for different reasons. Won't be upset with any of them. I personally think Bennett due to his speed/grit/competitiveness would be a better complement to Monahan. And I think Draisaitl's size would help us match up well against the big Western teams. That's why I think I might slightly prefer both of them to Reinhart.

Toews looks faster to me. And is listed at 6'2, 208 so is bigger and stronger. He seems grittier to me as well. I mean there's a chance Reinhart's skating improves significantly but there's no guarantee. And there's a chance he fills out and becomes quite a strong player but he may not.

Maybe I'm being too harsh on Reinhart but I feel like you want your top line centres to be elite in some skillset (size/strength, skating, etc). He's the smartest player in the draft but I still wonder if his average skating and average size will limit his top end upside in the NHL.

Again no issues if we take him, I'd be quite excited for him to join our team. I wonder if we might move him to RW long term which would fit for us too.

No lose situation for us. We're guaranteed a choice of one of the top three centres.

And Monahan as well (other than size)

I don't understand the comparison to RNH at all - Reinhart looks to be a much more complete player than RNH is. When you think the game at the level Toews does you don't necessarily need to have great speed, size, or shot to become an elite passer or scorer - and I see that in Reinhart.

I dont know much about Pysyk however his stats are nothing to write home over where as Sven has shown much greater upside when he is confident.

Pysyk would be a great return. He's got decent size and is a right handed shot. He's smart and a good puck mover. He would immediately become the Flames best prospect on the blue line and probably challenge for a spot this camp.

Imagine being that age and being hailed as if you were a Crosby. Play a few games with extreme success and then spend a summer trying to keep it out of your head!

i guarantee you, the hate everyone feels for Bettman will reach new heights when he is thanking the City of Philadelphia for hosting the draft and congratulating the LA Kings and all you be like is "GET TO THE FREAKING PICKS"

Toews has 1 inch on him (he is 6'2" v 6'1") and heavier, (207lbs vs 185lbs) but he also has 8 years in age ( 26 vs 18). I will admit I can't recall Toews stats when he entered the league.
