The guy in the bottom of Bow Valley does a pretty good job. Take them to him and ask. There's also a guy on the main floor of TD at one end but I can't speak to his quality/value.
Southcentre has a shoe place that I've used. They replaced the soles on mine for around $30-$40. They have to do both or you'll end up walking around like Olga from Little House on the Prairie.
I don't know how his prices or service compares to other cobblers but he does a great job with your shoes and as far as I'm concerned that's the most important part.
Tough to tell what's going on in that picture, but it doesn't look good and shouldn't happen that early in a shoe's life or at all. I'd complain to the company and try to get a new pair before getting them repaired.

At the east end of the professional wing is a shoe repair guy. He is from Russia and has fixed some cowboy boots of my husband's that were in about the same state of disrepair.
I have this pair of somewhat pricey Steve Maddens where the thin sole has completely cracked across and I've only worn them for a few months.
Is this something that can be fixed at reasonable cost or do I have no choice but to toss these?
Also, stop buying Steve Maddens. I've been through 4 pairs (I love the style) but I was lucky to get 6 months out of them before the water was getting in through to soles...poor quality. Trying Ecco's now, so far, so good.

I have owned a few pairs of Steve Maddens and had no problems, and I am hard on shoes.

I know exactly the place you are talking about (I forget the name of the place too). But, how recently have you used this guy? Cause I don't think he's been there for a few years. In fact I think it's one of those situations where the place is still there, but it's owned by a new guy, and he doesn't do the same sort of work.
I don't know for sure though, that's why I'm asking.

I think I used him 1.5 years ago to resole a pair of Cole Haan's. I've worn them pretty regularly for that time and they're holding up great.

Oh no, if things have changed, it is only very very recently. He is right beside the hair dresser that I use and I drop in quite frequently to get some of my shoes shined and the like. They also sell some leather stuff, some Russian stuff like those stacking dolls, and I believe it is his wife that is the seamstress that does alterations on clothing etc.
I will check when I go to my next hair appointment in 3 weeks.
Edit: Just checked...it is still there.
