I looked online and thought that they averaged around $500/pair... A bit more than I want to spend.

I'd honestly pony up for a decent pair from Alberta Boot. I've had mine for 15 years and they look great and have held up well. Every few years I take them to the guy in my building for new soles and that's about all the maintenance I've done.

I totally agree, most comfortable boot I've ever worn. My pair has held up with not much wear at all over 8 years running. Sure I spent ~$300 on them when I bought them, but I would venture that the use I have gotten out of them easily has made them a great purchase.

Small world. Just got off the phone with my girlfriend who couldn't wait to tell me about the 1 year old used boots she found at some boutique near "Strathcona Mall"(?). Orginally $350 from Alberta Boot and she got them for $80.

It's been a while since I bought mine, but not too long ago you could get a good pair of cowhide ropers for <$200.
Average $500/pair? Maybe, but keep in mind they've got some pretty pricey models that bring that average up.

Alberta Boot Co. starts around $320. I just bought a pair of bullhide ropers there for a little over $350. They aren't broken in yet but are already quite comfortable. They do have a bunch of discontinued styles in their store that may be somewhat cheaper if you can find a size/style that works for you.

Your name is BigNumbers and 500 is too big? Crazy.
I'd guess cowboy boots are similar to dress shoes, where you can get some from Aldo for $60 that fall apart on your way home, and you continually replace them. You don't want to spend more on shoes, because of how easily they fall apart. Or you could spend a few hundred and have something that will be comfy and last forever. $500 over 30 years seems like a nominal amount.

Ariat. Or Justin. I've never tried Alberta Boot Co. but I have tried probably every other boot out there and the only thing that holds up for me is Ariat. I've actually made this pair last longer than a year! I'm a little bit of a collector (I think I have 6 or 7 pairs right now of different boots) but I'd definitely recommend Ariats. And my last pair of Ariats I paid $250.

Came to see people making fun of Cowboy boots and the type of people who only wear them during the Stampede.
Left disappointed.

I generally make all my western wear purchases directly at the Stampede.
Prices are right, especially given I've usually had a dozen beer by that point and all the prices appear reasonable. I seem to end up with a new hat every year. Most made of real plastic too!

Big numbers doesn't reflect my income! Plus $500 for a pair of boots seemed a bit much for just two weeks... But if I amortize it over 10 years of stampede it seems worth it! I'll head down there tomorrow. How long does it take, do they make them there and I have to wait weeks?

I can get an unreasonable attachment to my cowboy boots. I've had to rescue a pair after my wife threw them in the garbage. I took them to a cobbler for new soles and the cobbler asked me, why.

Alberta Boot Co. has their current styles in stock. If you need anything altered (i.e. they can stretch the leather if it's pressing somewhere) it might take some time, but if you're good with how it is there's no waiting.

You can wear Justin Ropers all year round, even with a suit to the office.

I wear my Ariat's year round and I'm far from a cowboy. Super comfortable.

If u want a simple pair of black ones, I could sell Ya a pair for 80 plus shipping. (Or if u can wait till July 9th no shipping as I am coming to Calgary. They are Boulet's but made in Mexico (they call them rugged country).
If you want a specific Boulet then grab me a number and I will grab them for Ya at a great CP price.
