In other news, it appears as though Top Gear is suing the English National team on the basis that "Ambitious but Rubbish" was their claim to fame first.

At least one South American team in the top 4, which is nice. Brazil is obviously the favourite, but I can see Uruguay or Colombia surprising them. Chile not so much.
Quote:
France
Nigeria
Winner G (Germany)
Second H (Algeria)
Looks like either Germany or France will be in the top 4.
Quote:
Netherlands
Mexico
Costa Rica
Greece
Either Costa Rica or Greece in the top 8, which I think is sort of cool. Other than that, the Dutch must be creaming in their pants. Which I hope results in them looking past Mexico, which I think is good enough to win the whole thing.
Quote:
Argentina
Switzerland
Winner H (Belgium)
Second G (USA)
This I think is the most open part of the bracket. Argentina is the favourite of course, but they've been a one man show.
That would make the semifinals:
Brazil (or Colombia or Urugay)
v.
Germany or France
Netherlands (or Mexico)
v.
Argentina (or Belgium or Switzerland).
I don't believe that Holland will underestimate Mexico. Louis van Gaal is far too good a manager for that to happen.
However, what worries me is their inexperience at this level. The results from the group stage somewhat mask that the back line was very vulnerable at times. Outside of the big three (van Persie, Robben, Sneijder), the players have not been through many high-stakes elimination games.
Also, this game is in Fortaleza, in the far north of Brazil. Holland's three previous games were in the more temperate South. That may be a big advantage for Mexico.
if you've ever wondered about that little theme that is played when the players walk out, here's the full anthem performed by the brazillian group Groove Allegro

I am guessing the English FA will ask for the Suarez punishment to be to strip his WC goals. Roy and the boys would have to hop on the plane to play on Saturday.

Uruguay losses their best player for this and the next World Cup taking away likely any chance of them winning either (although tiny chance they won anyways).
Well it says he'd miss 9 international games. I didn't see anything about next World Cup. For Liverpool he'd miss 9 league games, 3 CL group stage games and however many domestic cup games are in that time frame as well.

I went off of Senator's report where he aluded to the 9 games meaning he would miss the next World Cup didn't see it
Liverpool isn't doing anything in the CL anyways and should be able to get by the group stage games without him. With Champions leaague games does he even play in early stage Domestic Cups?
Didn't realize it would be 9 just took a quick look at the schedule and it didn't seem like much at all.
I think both get punished and that is how it should be since the player is the one that is being punished. Uruguay didn't really have anything to do with it all.
I guess I idiotically assumed FIFA would have some balls and actually suspended him for 9 World Cup matches, but no it's 9 international matches so basically a 1-game suspension from Uruguay (and a bunch of meaningless friendlies) and Liverpool does indeed eat it the worst. So yeah I cann see why their fans aren't pleased.

It still doesn't help Italy who are on a plane home. FIFA really should have kicked the whole team out especially after comments from coach and captain
captain Lugano: "Chiellini is less of a man for crying and photoshoping pictures"
coach Tavares: "This is a football tournament, not a place for morality"
