red card Valencia. that was identical to Marchesio's tackle.

I'd say Marchesio's tackle was slightly worse in that he missed the ball entirely (by quite a bit) whereas Valencia at least contacted the ball before the French player's leg. Seemed harsh to me.

Yup. I thought Marchesios tackle was borderline direct red, and this was not as bad.
Maybe it's something FIFA has been talking to the refs about?

Luckily Honduras was able to hold onto that 0-3 deficit and stay ahead of Cameroon thus avoiding 32nd place.

So .. Honduras beat us by 7 goals when trying to qualify for the Hex ... and then went 0-3 in the group stage.
I can accurately extrapolate that we would have gone 0-21.

On home soil Canada had a draw against them. They lost that game in Honduras before the game even started.
It was a most unusual game by many players.

What's with all these afternoon games? Seriously piss off Brazil! Can't watch any of 'em because of work, and now most of the knockout games are also in the afternoon!

Yeah, I had to pray all day that the score wouldn't be ruined for me.
Finally get home with the game PVR'd, sit down in front of the TV to check my cell for texts, and accidentally scroll past TheScore widget, with the score for the NIG/ARG game clearly displayed.

European tv paid big bucks to get the games in primetime.

Concacaf should ban games in Honduras until they become civilized. I think a game in South Sudan would be safer.

For those of you justifying the penalty when the Cote D'Ivoire player nicked the Greek player's feet and took him down, don't you think a penalty should've also been called yesterday when the Swiss defender nudged down the Honduran striker in the penalty area just as he was about to shoot?

Yes. Obviously the ref didn't see what exactly happened.

It's not justifying the penalty in the Greece game, it was an obvious penalty that should of been called and was.

Right, and with that being the case, don't you also think that the play where the Swiss guy knocked down the Honduran guy yesterday should've been a penalty too?
