If anyone is thinking about getting a PS4, EB Games is having a deal right now until July 4th where you get a PS4, Watchdogs, and 3 month PS+ subscription for $449. You essentially get the PS4 for $349.... I broke down and bought it.

This reminds me about all those rumors that the PS3 has way more potential then how much it was utlized. THings like its GPU were never used etc....

Any truth to this?

I did get an e-mail inviting me to the PS NOW beta. Anyone else get one? I thought it was only the US that had it.

I got in a few weeks back. It was open to Americans only, but I just provided a zip code and it seemed to work just fine.

Likewise just got it now. Only problem is now the Beta actually has prices for the games which make beta-testing unappealing.

I agree. Loaded it up saw the prices. Decided to try one of the lame free games. It works ok but I am not paying to do some testing.

Beta testing should not require funds on the testing side of things. Just a ridiculous concept by Sony - this will definitely limit the quality of testing, since fewer people will actually use the service.

I'm pretty sure they did the beta without payment for a while already. Maybe this is just another 'test phase' to see how the payment function works? I doubt that is the case, but who knows.

I'd love to see the number of hours being logged since they started charging. If they were awesome games I'd probably give it a whirl, but charging money for those games? I really hope that was a "let's price it stupidly high and see if there's enough demand" decision. I'd probably charge:

$0.99 - 2 hours
$2 - 1 Day
$4 - 1 Week
$6 - 1 Month
$8 - 2 Months

If a lot of these games can be had for $15, I don't see how you can get too close to the $10 mark when it's a rental.

If I was Sony I would probably offer a model similar to Blockbuster rent a game for $5/week, and then a Netflix like subscription for something like $15 a month.

I wouldn't even pay that. If I'm renting a game I want new games to try out for a few days or so. Since it's all older titles I honestly thing a subscription model would be the best way to go. It worked for Netflix.

I won't buy anything on a rental basis from PSNow. Subscription method only and a maximum $20/month.

I'm confused by your comment. Sony already charges for PS+ (similar told MS Gold), and both are $50 a year.

PS Now is different, it streams games that you can rent.

Jeez, it's the crazy ass Dead Rising patch all over again. (Early PS4 review copies going out reportedly have a 0.5 GB patch.)

http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/sniper..._xbox_one.html

Sniper Elite 3 has a 10GB day one patch on Xbox One

UPDATE: Nope, it's actually 16GB.

Whilst the update will cause problems for those on slower or limited broadband connections, Rebellion says it's well worth downloading.
"While we understand gamers will be frustrated at the wait, the good news is that the update will actually reduce the size of the game's total install footprint on their hard drive, and reduce the size of future patches significantly.

Those picking up the game on other platforms will also be greeted with Day One updates, but these will be significantly smaller in size.

sorry i'm confused at my comment myself, please ignore.

so my 360 has basically crapped out and died (scratched the only game i play regularly on it to the point it is now a coaster).

Any one willing to predict when we might see the next price drop on the next gen (i don't care which console, price will be paramount)? Am curious if it may be worth waiting till back to school, black fri, xmas/boxing day, etc?

We're less than two weeks out from The Last of Us Remastered. I'm in for a double dip on what a lot of people say is the "Game of a Generation".

Oh, and in before the posts of "it's just a port", "it's over priced" or the always hilarious "I can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p".

http://www.gameinformer.com/games/th...ampaign=buffer

The first thing you’re likely to notice is the visual upgrade from 720p and 30 frames per second to 1080p and 60 frames per second (though you can lock things down at 30 FPS should you choose). Naughty Dog tells us that character textures have been increased by a factor of four, shadows have been doubled (along with a new lighting process), and draw distance is noticeably better.

Motion blur when turning the camera (used to hide slower loading textures) has been significantly reduced, but not eliminated. The game’s gritty, destroyed environments look crisper, which was even more pronounced in the side-by-side comparison. It looks spectacular.

Audio has gotten a significant improvement, with more options to customize your setup. For audiophiles playing with high-end stereo headsets, you’ll be able to change the azimuth (to tune alignment and timing for better synchronicity across the channels). You can also decide whether your center channel plays dialog, dialog and sound effects, or nothing at all.

For those that want to play with some additional insight, you'll be able to turn on commentary. Creative director Neil Druckmann and Troy Baker go behind the scenes as you're playing.

Performance has also improved, with instant load times thanks to streaming from the hard drive instead of the disc. The controls have been revamped to take advantage of the Dual Shock 4. The lightbar will signal health, with healthy blue scaling to orange when injured and red when critical.

Spoiler!
