Second line players with intangibles who got overpaid and over rated.

That would sting, seeing as we could have traded him for Drouin mere months ago.

Well back then it would have made sense.

I hope so... I've been a little bit nervous Buffalo will back up a dump truck of money to him and be saddled with another bad contract.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Ryan Callahan and his agent expected this morning to finalize/sign off on contract with TB. Will be 5 or 6 yrs with likely AAV of $5.5M+.

Just never seen enough out of Callahan (or Bolland for that matter) to justify their contracts

Lightning buy out Ryan Malone, to replace him with, slightly younger Ryan Malone.

I realize he brings some leadership intangibles but we are talking about a 2-time 20 goal and 1-time 50 point player. IMO this is simply a terrible contract.

What is Cammy going to say to Steve to compliment him?

"You have nice hair"?
"Your eyes are so dreamy"?

Yeah, this is less than I thought some idiot would pay him in July, but it's still more than he's worth. Guy is a 4.5M player.

This has David Clarkson 2.0 written all over it.

I never understood the hype surrounding Callahan.

Callahan= not a d-bag, is a good leader, plays the style of game that Clarkson and he both play. It's not hype, he's just a better player than Clarkson.

I understand that he's a better player than Clarkson, but at the end of the day, Callahan is a below average sized player with average stats who will probably regress now that he's hitting 30. He can have all the intangibles in the world, but at the end of the day lots of players out there bring what he does and more for far less money.
