Mogilny had no Hart Trophy votes from his best season, 1992-93 (when he tied Teemu for the league league with 76 goals, and only four other in his career, from 1995-96, his second best season.

Pat Burns has been named to the Hall of Fame. About f***in' time.

Quote:
Burns will be posthumously inducted as a builder four years after his death at the age of 58. The only coach to win the Jack Adams Award three times, he did so once each with the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins and then captured the Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils.

It's a good thing that they just decided to wait for no reason and then inducted Pat Burns anyway.

So why Forsberg but not Lindros? Both had short careers, which is supposedly the reason Lindros hasn't made it. I don't get it, Lindros deserves to be there. One of the most dominant players of all time when he was in his prime.

I would bet reputation more than anything. In terms of silverware, Forsberg is a Triple Gold Club member (SC + 2x OG + 2x WC), while Lindros has only an Olympic gold (Forsberg has 3 WC silvers, Lindros an OG silver)

But at a more basic level, when the HHOF selection committee is only 18 members, and is primarily comprised of hockey lifers, things like snubbing the team that drafted you might not sit well with just enough people to effectively blackball you.

A little bit of hyperbole there.
If you've won 4 Stanley Cups, a Conn Smythe and you've scored the 9th most playoff goals in NHL history, I think it's fair to say you're one of the top playoff performers of all-time.

Charlie Huddy won five Cups. I don't think anyone is going to call him one of the greatest playoff defencemen of all time. And Lemieux ranks ninth in goals for on the basis of games played alone. His 82-game average for goals scored in the playoffs is 28. A solid number, but hardly legendary. (In fairness, it is a noticeable improvement on his 82-game average of 21.4 in the regular season).

Lemieux was a very good player in both the regular season and playoffs. He was a little better in the playoffs than the regular season. Like Messier, the legend of his reputation is built on the basis of a couple very impressive single-year runs that have been applied retroactively against his entire career.
