Yipe, I wish he would step out and do a mock draft with explainations, but Bob has always been just a "follower" IMO.

People just need to be aware of what his list is. It isn't a mock. It isn't his ratings. He talks to scouts and builds the list from consensus. I like it . He's not pretending to be a scout. He's just predicting based on what he's heard

The centre position is chief among their long list of organizational weaknesses.

I have a completely baseless gut feeling that Nylander may be the sleeper pick the Flames are targeting.
Gaudreau feeding that Nylander kid for a decade could very well be the most insane thing ever.
Again, completely baseless but something hasn't been sitting right for a while. He's the exact opposite of Ritchie as a sleeper pick and as Burke said, everyone lies during the draft, reverse phsychology. @4 it could be Nylander and I could live with that. Although I think the uproar would be much stronger through CP.
Still want Draisaitl or Bennett first and foremost personally.

Yea, it makes a lot of sense that they would target an undersized winger with apparent attitude problems.

I would much rather have Ritchie than Nylander, and in fact I wonder if Nylander may be on the Flames "Do Not Draft" list. Hopefully neither at #4 though. I do wonder about what is information and what is misinformation. For example, perhaps the Oilers/Draisaitl thing is a smokescreen and they really like someone else.

I agree with Bob's top 11, think he's bang on. After 11, at Larkin I think it gets too unpredictable and I think he will have quite a few misses with big risers/drops against the list.
I like every player in McKenzie's top 11 right up to Kapanen a lot. Just not at 4. If the Flames want somebody outside the big 4 I think they need to trade down a spot or two and get another asset, no problems with that but show the intelligence to recognize the league wide consensus on those 4 players and pick up another asset.
If I had to predict I do think it's going to come down to a choice between Ritchie and Draisaitl and they'll reach for Ritchie at 4 though. I think the Oilers are blowing smoke on Draisaitl and they'll take whoever is left out of the top 3.

I don't know what the Oilers will do, but we can all agree that it will probably be a mistake.

Lol... well MacTavish did an interview in the last day or two where he said the top 4 are equal and anyone claiming they know who will be better is just arrogant so in the top 4 you draft on need.
The Oilers need a big body at D or centre who can play desperately. They shouldn't even consider anyone not named Draisaitl or Ekblad unless they have to. Would it surprise me if they make another mistake and pick one of the two smaller offensive centres? This is the Oilers we are talking about.
I can already see poor Reinhart playing with the smurf corps having guys take runs at him and ending the season -25. I think they have about 7 or 8 tiny forwards locked up long term already, will feel for him he gets drafted by the Oilers.

I think the most likely top 4 player to drop to the Flames is Bennett
Though Reinhart is the highest on my preference list.
And secretly Draisaitl is actually second on my list, so if the Oilers go the small skilled forward route again I'd love for us to take the big German center.

99% chance we get Draisatl. Teams aren't built on individuals though. 2 of the best players can't get out of the first round of the playoffs. Hopefully Sieloff and Wotherspoon develop into top 4 material as there's pretty much no chance Ekblad falls to us

And people like Craig Button have said that on draft day, actual NHL teams are using this as "the list" of expectations of where players will go.

I really want Ekblad to go in the top 2.
Kind of worried that he will somehow fall to Edmonton as Buffalo doesn't have as much need for him and whoever trades for the #1 pick may want Reinhart instead..... Ahhh!!

Draisatll does have the Barkov feel to him, that he may go as high as 2.

At no point did Craig Button say "the list". You've used that fake quote twice now, the first time when you posted the interview.
Craig Button said he used Bob's list as a "guideline". Button said Bob's list can be used to get a feel and the draft temperature. What guys might fall, what teams might be doing "not exactly but in a range". It's said it's the best one to get a feel for the list because of how McKenzie does his list. But it is in no way shape or for "the list" that teams follow. It's just another opinion, albeit maybe the best and most valuable outside ones own.

The question is would you go with Ho-sang at 36? Very high risk/high reward there. Or is it pick 34 we have? Either way would you take that risk with The Flames second?

We have 34, and yes I would.
The kid looked fantastic in the prospects game IIRC and did great in the physical testing.
High risk / high reward type of pick?
