Wow - nice cross! (I'm way behind you guys - sorry!)
Still think Portugal is majorly overrated. They're supposed to be # 2 in the world...?
I agree with Girly, US was not lucky, they played well and when you compare that with how Portugal played, I think the portuguese were the ones who got lucky....

Keep in mind that if it ends up that Portugal and US have the same goal differential at the end they're drawing rocks for the last spot. So that would be Portugal 2-0 over Ghana and Germany 3-0 over USA.
Well it's a good thing the US only pretends to actually care about soccer else they might actually riot.

I heard that the American fans in Brazil have been great. Displaying their flags, bonding with the locals, even buying tickets to non-American games. Brazilian media have been raving about them.

So do Germany and the US just kick the ball back and forth for 90 minutes so both qualify?

I normally would agree but having to hear the garbage rah rah USA from ESPN about American soccer is tiresome so when it comes to that I have no problems pointing out the garbage that is USA soccer .

Not sure why Germany does that when they can easily beat the US and secure first without breaking a sweat.

A 2-0 USA win combined with a 3-0 Ghana win and Ghana catches Germany on goal differential. Obviously that scenario isn't likely but it's not like Germany's goal differential edge is insurmountable.
I do agree with you that Germany will put out a safe lineup then listens for news on how the other game is going and adjusts accordingly.

Ghana has the tie breaker against US if they will like 1-0 and America loses, right? That seems like probably the most likely scenario that knocks the US out.

It's been a strange World Cup so far, being a German fan, I don't want to take anything for granted

I think the french invented adjectives.

There's a special bond historically obviously. Also, again France's best player in a World Cup is Algerian by decent.

yeah but they were predicting a Germany-Algeria 2nd round match.
'yeah, they'll beat the Germans and meet France" They say it without blinking an eye. So if our friend hates ESPN for being rah rah, he hasn't heard everyone else.
