Exactly what happened with Wideman.

Washington let Feaster talk to Wideman with the understanding that if they came to an agreement on a contract, Feaster would give the Caps a 5th round pick. If Wideman didn't agree, the Flames wouldn't give up anything.

It's always been a perfectly legitimate process. Its only tampering if you talk to a guy without his team's permission.

This should not be allowed.

Why not? It's win/win for both teams. Nothing wrong with it.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Bottom line: EDM is, for a specified time, able to make a pitch to Nikitin. If a contract can be worked out, EDM and CBJ can conclude trade.
DVD is being couriered as I type this. MacT will then attempt to close the deal via Skype, even though Nikitin probably doesn't even have a Skype account

When they say "window" what sort of a time frame are we talking here? Historically what's the usual for a situation like this? Clearly no later than the 1st, but is that firm or is there a sooner date?

Nikitin swooping in to usurp Shultze's 6x6??

Or perhaps they both get it?

Nikitin took 2 or 3 steps back this past season but if he can bounce back he's a good player.

Don't know if Edmonton is a good environment for players to bounce back though.

think it's a good move by oilers if they can get it done. He has shown the ability to be a promising dman.

Is Nikitin advanced enough to execute the 'swarm'?

So, if all he wants is term and money, why does he want off the Blue Jackets?
