All calgary management on stage to make the pick should do so while wearing white cowboy hats.

Totally agree with Burkie about the draft. Lie your face off. Spread rumors, shake up the other managers thinking. Play dirty and do whatever it takes to get a better player.

I wonder if the Flames' constant mentioning of Ritchie isn't a bit of a smoke screen, in light of the above comment.

Where were those videos filmed? I just noticed they had all the '89 cup winners names on the lockers. Is it some replica dressing room or something?

IIRC the flames recreated the locker room for the anniversary celebration of the Cup the team had recently in the current flames dressing room.

I don't get the reasoning though because it's almost a guarantee Ritchie isn't drafted top 3.

It might encourage teams below us to trade up for our pick if he is their guy.

Except that it is not a guarantee of any kind. It looks pretty likely, but no team is even hinting at who is at the top of their lists, and in what order. For all we know, some other team or teams may be just as high on Ritchie.

Conroy sounds like he wants Bennett.

I truly think the Flames brass like what they see in Nick Ritchie. I don't think they they have him in their top 4, but I bet they have him ahead of guys like Dal Colle, Nylander, Ehlers, and Virtanen.

Objectively speaking Nick Ritchie is a great hockey player and has a solid chance of turning into an NHL player.

Here's a cool article comparing this year's top prospects to former top picks. Nick Ritchie has some solid rankings, comparable to guys like Landeskog, Eric Staal, Nathan Horton, Andrew Ladd, and Ryan Johansen.

http://lastwordonsports.com/2014/06/...whl-big-board/

All that said, I'll be sad if we take him with #4 overall. He's a good player, but getting a center is more important (or Ekblad if he drops to 4).

Likely Ritchie is drafted top 3? Don't see it happening. I'll do a friendly bet though if your game.

He was saying that he really values hockey smarts and most of all he values compete leel, two things which Bennett is known for.

Sounds like Reinhart to me! Hockey smarts, while Reinhart is being called Einstein and the best hockey IQ scouts have seen in 15 years, etc.

Honestly it could apply to either one of the Sams - If I had to guess though I think Conroy is leaning toward Reinhart.
