My memory of that tournament is Tootoo skating 3/4 of the length of the ice at full speed and torpedoing the opposition either from behind on in boarding/charging fashion. I'll be honest, at the time, I was really enjoying it.

Which is basically how players and fans throughout the league felt.
Wanted him on their team, hated him when he was an opponent.
I wouldn't object to the Flames signing Tootoo as a 4th liner / 13th forward. Nice to have veterans like that in depth roles so that the young guys can be called up to play or sent down to play, and don't have to go on press box duty.
I would actually be surprised if this didn't happen to a degree based on the Flames current direction. Close to home for Tootoo and if he's got his act together again now he would be a good 4th liner to have in the system on a two way deal.

I considered this a few months back due to him being RW and the McGrattan discussion, but thought it was a silly idea mainly because of Tootoo's size and the discussions about us getting bigger. But... who knows? Perhaps Tootoo will indeed join a Canadian team, maybe ours.

Of course, he's not the same guy as back then.
Too bad.. his potential was very high.
Wondered a little while back if McGrattan could bring some of that back. Even if it turns out to be a final dying glimmer of the potential talent that was there.
It depends where his head is at now...if he had the work ethic and the leadership to fit in...and if he cheaply filled a need then I would be ok with it

Difference between McGrattan and Tootoo is that Tootoo can really bloody skate, whereas McGrattan can really fight. McGrattan has become far from a liability as a hockey player, and I'm a fan, but no question Tootoo is better in that regard.

I love it when you get to make a kid happy like that. Tootoo (and many, many others) are pretty sweet when they do stuff like that for their young fans. Was having a pretty stressful day and seeing that vid puts a smile on my face.
No thanks. I still remember that fight with Iggy he had where he tried to slam Iggy's head into the ice at the end. Can't forgive that...
Personally, I don't see any fit for this guy on the Flames. Don't get me wrong I appreciate the clip of him handing his stick to the kid - great gesture, but he's done far less good than bad in his career in my opinion, sucker punching Roy and Reaves, multiple borderline charging/kneeing hits, that incident with Iginla...just to name a few. Hopefully he has his personal issues resolved but I'd take a quick pass on Tootoo.
