Innit is an English slang.
Ain't is more of an American slang than an Edmontonian slang lol.
I go American with my slang from time to time for the enjoyment of it. It's cool, but please never associate me with Edmonton again.

The NHL draft is full of trades/speculation and is the most entertaining non-hockey event of the year IMO.

I was thinking along these lines. Maybe EVENT would have a more appropriate word. Most Canadians I've met enjoy drinking beer and talking about hockey...

I did the one at flames central a few years back. The year we traded for Mike Cammeleri. Since it was on a Friday after work it was actually pretty fun to get a bunch of flames fans together and have some beers in the summer. And when the trade went down the place erupted.

Because of the flooding I was in Calgary last year working. I worked in the morning then drank copious amounts of beer while watching the draft in my hotel room

How is the second day draft coverage on the NHL Network?
I might subscribe to that channel for the month to watch the draft this year after watching last years compressed draft format

In past years, they have streamed it on NHL.com. The coverage isn't really anything special. After the first round, they go pretty quickly with all the picks being made from each team's table, so they only give analysis of a small number of the picks.
I find you get better coverage of the Flames' picks by listening to The Fan. They usually get interviews with each pick shortly after he's drafted.

I agree with some of the previous guys: there is a distinct difference between a draft party and a draft lottery party.
At a draft party you have fun watching your team pick someone who will hopefully be a cornerstone of the franchise in the future. Every team has a pick.
At a draft lottery party, you celebrate your last place team getting a good pick because of how terrible the team is. You then celebrate how that pick will immediately be a cornerstone of your franchise until your team ruins them.
The key difference is that at the draft everyone gets a pick. At the lottery, only 14 teams get a pick and only 3 or 4 have a realistic shot.

Thought about going out to a pub or such to watch the draft, but if there is one thing I found from attending the draft last year. It sucks only having your cell phone to look up extra info. At least hunkering down you can TSN on the TV, stream another radio feed, and CP up hitting refresh. Plus the beer is cheaper.

Sorry if this has been asked before or it's a stupid question, but is the first day of the draft just the first round, and the second day the rest of the rounds?

I had an inspired moment. Thought it said who the Flames will play in the first round.
