as expected. It wasn't a good signing in the first place.

I think the Wings just recall Tootoo being annoying and able to score goals when they played against him some 4-8 times a season, so were hoping they could bring a guy who can actually fight and sometimes put up points, but predictably he didn't fit into their skill-first style of play. I think it also had to do with their AHL guys performing way better than expected too.

Likely going to sign with Edmonton. He wants to go to a place that is similiar to his hometown.

He is a good energy player. That was a bad contract though.
I'd also take him over Westgarth.

I must have been living in a cave for a period of time. When did Detroit sign Tootoo and why?

To reiterate, because he was often very productive versus the Red Wings, they realized they lacked his physical style of play, so wanted to try and mold his physical play into their "skill" based strategy. It obviously didn't work, but it didn't matter because their AHL guys that came up did far better than expected, so they don't need him.

I wouldn't object to the Flames signing Tootoo as a 4th liner / 13th forward. Nice to have veterans like that in depth roles so that the young guys can be called up to play or sent down to play, and don't have to go on press box duty.

When he went through his stint of alcoholism I'd agree. Any team could use a pest/hitter/fighter like that though when he wasn't being a drunk liability on the ice.

I still disagree. I always found that he had a lot of trouble discerning where the line was. His liabilities consistently far outweighed his assets.

Then he'd go to Winnipeg... which probably isn't a bad fit actually.

That's your opinion. My opinion is that as a consumer, I don't want to see him in the league anymore. If you want to see him, I have no issue with that, but I don't see my comments as harsh.

I could see him and Thornton being good additions to the Oilers. They have more of a need to fill in the department of tough energy 4th line players than just about any other team, Imo.
