Default Birds nesting in Bathroom Vent. How to handle?

Okay I have some birds nesting in the bathroom vent on the 2nd floor of my house. We have seen them fly into it and can hear them at times in the house. We have the shutter style grill and it seems they have lifted and squeeze under it to get through. I'm kind of an animal lover and I would hate to have any young birds killed and am wondering if there is any pest control services in the city that can do this humaneley other than just sticking in a vacuum and sucking everything out?

Why not wait a couple weeks for them to vacate? You can put a screen over it for next year. They were in our vents last year and after they left we put the screen over the louvers.

I've had that issue with my dryer vent.

The flaps got destroyed over time by the elements which allowed the birds to nest in there.

While I was pulling all that stuff out, an egg dropped to the ground and broke

There were more eggs but the birds never came back to them.

Since then installed one of these:
Spoiler!

These need cleaning once in a while too, but at least nothing can get in there

You do not like to hear Birds while you poop. Sounds pretty peaceful to me.

Had this problem a couple of years ago, just waited until late summer then pulled out the empty nest, vacuumed it out and put a screen over the opening.

I would wait intil the birds are done nesting and then put a screen on the dryer vent to prevent future events like this.

Scream at a high pitch voice at the birds to leave.

We had the same thing 2 years ago. I thought it was all cute and green peacie too until a couple of hatchlings died and my bathroom started to smell like a$$ even when it wasn't being used. Not to mention it's not like they go outside to do their business either.

I let them grow and leave the nest then I cleaned it out. The nest wasn't close to the opening either, it was about 2 feet in and down after the bend. Once it was cleaned out I made a screen from 1/4" wire mesh and put it over the flaps.

Predatory behaviour might not be best referenced from children's rhymes though, so results may vary.

Birds will die in there - don't assume because they've moved out it's good to go concerning putting a screen on.

Okay I will wait till later in the summer and then probably just suck it all out go with the screen. Starting to get a little bit of bird crap on the side of the house which is annoying.

Well, you know the old saying: "A bird in the hand is worth two in the vent".

I wonder if leaving the fan running for a few days would drive them out. That constant thrumming would get pretty annoying. Of course then you have some decaying bird eggs in there, and you'd have to leave the thing running forever anyway.

Release some Bolivian tree lizards in your house, that should do the trick.
