Sure they could, for about 10 seconds, but at his peak Lance Armstrong had an FTP (40-60 minute power) in the 480 W range. So if you've got a motor that puts out 500W, that means you've got Lance Armstrong riding shotgun for you.

So I am guessing his wattage calculations are like his speed calculations, quadrupled. Because 10-12 kms/hr seems like a respectable average for that bike of his under straight human power. Also combustiblefuel, you 'steal' a car, you build a bike out of 'steel'. Might be an important detail to nail down as a budding welder/machinist. That type-o would look terrible on a quote.

Yeah, and I just noticed he even got his conversion from watts to HP wrong.

1600-1700 Watts = ~2.15 Hp, not 1.5 to 1.7

I have one. Which one are you looking at? They are a German make but the cheaper ones are made in Taiwan IIRC.

I find the Race Lector 7000 to be stiff and twitchy, probably because the tires are at a high pressure (max 145 psi) but it's feather light, strong, solid, and fast. It's built for speed and climbing was a bit of a struggle. I wish it had a few extra gears for really tough slopes.

That ghost bike is equipped at a level of what you might expect given the price tag.

Yeah, there are a couple other bikes that have caught my eye, I'm really just starting to look. I was mostly just curious about the Ghost bikes since I haven't heard much about them at all. Not set on any one brand

Also depends on how many amps of current as well. Your not pushing out at 2.15 HP . You would lose power from heat . so realisticly your only going to use 1.5 to 1.7 HP. I also said they CAN produce up to that many watts. During sprints they can . I never said they do It continually. Continuous wattage is around 450

O relax already. So I have a bias for steel. O well Surly makes all their frames out of steel and they do just fine.

No it doesn't. Conversion from one unit of power to another is a matter of simple math. 1 hp = 745 W no matter what the source is (legs, motor, actual horses).

Claims instead of not knowing how to convert units, that he was arbitrarily including an efficiency factor that he didn't mention.
Besides dude, you were saying cyclists produce 1600-1700 W which means they put out 1.5-1.7 HP, you weren't even talking about your motor at that point, you just straight up got the conversion wrong.

Then repeats exactly what I said after I pointed out that his 1600-1700 W number was wrong, as though he is trying to correct me.
Besides, even if you were talking about peak power, what relevance does it have for your argument?

We said we call BS on the speeds you claim, over a pretty long distance, so you say, yeah well sprinters are really fast over 100m??????

Back to bikes. What trails were dry enough to survive this weeks rain and be rideable by the weekend? West Bragg was perfectly tacky last week, so I'm assuming they will be soup after the next couple days. Anyone on Sulfur Springs recently?

I'm in the market for a "cheaper" electric bike, preferably folding, that could get me from Down Town to Altadore. I need it to help get up the hills on the way.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

I need to force myself to start looking at local bike shops but I went to MEC for the bike because of the very liberal return policy (I saw a guy returning a bike he had for 3 months) and 1 year guarantee of free service and the complimentary fittings, etc. Most LBS' can't afford such a liberal policy on a big ticket item. I have started using LBS' for smaller parts and clothing.

Downtown to Altadore is just a short 6KM ride (< 30 minutes)and the total elevation gain is only 40 meters. You should be able to do that easily on any type of bike.

What does "cheaper" mean? What's your budget? A folding electric bike is about $1300 and rarely carried by the local e-bike dealers (like Power in Motion). Why does it need to fold? An electric bike won't be as portable as a regular folding bike because it will be extremely heavy due to motor and battery.

When I made posts on the 13 and the early mourning of the 14 (1 am to 3am I was drinking) and last night in the early mourning 1-3 am I had been drinking with my Buddies after a bar hop on the bikes. So yes I have a tendency to use my phone when drinking.

If your looking for a folding Bike. A Gio H2 is a good choice.
