Regardless, they can't just have small wingers. If cammy is back then Hudler has to go. They can't keep all the small guys just because they're good guys.

There was a 10 point gap between the Flames and Oilers, 3rd and 4th... Pretty sure we wouldn't have a better pick.

Or you can go with 2 is better than 1, 3 if we draft Thatcher Demko.

Without Cammaleri we would probably have another pick, age current pick doesn't look like it would be better though.

SwiftKey changed "the" to "age".
The rest is my fault.
If we traded Cammaleri, we probably would have had another draft pick. A 3rd or 4th it looked like. Our current 1st overall wouldn't have been effected however because of how steller the Oiler are at being no good.

Someone clearly tossed an anti-English grenade in this thread.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
CGY and pending UFA Mike Cammalleri still talking contract. Term, more than $, would appear to be the issue. #TSN

Seems like there is a decent chance he'll stay at this point. Seems like he's stuck around Calgary for a lot of the time after the season.

Does anyone know what term Cammi is looking for? I could see him getting his $6M+, but for how long? How long is reasonable? Is he the main stay that carries on for the long haul?
And whatever happens, Limited NMC, sure... A short list of 10 teams is fine. But not a full blown NMC.

At his age and considering his performance for a good part of last season, I would only offer him 2. I think 3 would be reasonable, but he is probably asking for 4-5, which I don't think is worth it from our point of view. If he is asking for 4-5, I think we should walk away.

3 years $18m sounds reasonable for both sides.

It is, and if it came to loyalties the brother wins.
That said Hayes may not want to goto "work" with his brother.
The example that springs to mind for me is Darren and Doug Flutie. Darren refused to play on the same team as his brother.
edit: sorry for off topic, thought I was in Trade speculation thread.

I thought they already made him an offer that he turned down?
Maybe they mean a new offer.

$6 million dollars should be worth about a 1st round pick. Squid was offered no higher than 3rd rounder at the trade deadline.
If he demands $6 mil, we should walk away. Do not want at that price.

I think given the circumstances and what he brings to the team, $6M is reasonable it's the term we need to be careful with.
We currently need roughly $13M in salary to reach the floor, signing Cammy is a good idea just don't add any NMC/NTC and it's even better.
You can't sign guys based on what the market wants because TDL is so fickle and unstable it's not a good measuring stick of what guys are worth.
Signing Cammy brings us to $7M, a need to sign a backup 'tender, Butler to either sign or fill his spot, and 4 RFA's to decide whether to retain or not. There's nobody in FA I desperately want so I think we should do what we can with what we have for the time being.
