Default Reserved seating at movies

I paid the extra fee ($3?) to select the seat in advance and I think it was well worth it. Stadium seating, higher quality seats and better picture. I think it's definitely worth the little extra cost, I saved about 20 minutes by not waiting in line for general admission.

What's comical though is when people sneak into a sold-out movie that has reserved seating. I probably saw 10 teenagers get booted from their seats because they somehow "misplaced" their tickets. Since the entire theatre was sold out they shuffled from seat to seat but eventually had nowhere to go so they had to leave

Cash grab? Yes, but worth it.

Isn't this a permanent feature of avx & imax?
At the screening of Xmen DOFP (avx) I actually saw two women move 4 times before settling in their actual reserved seats.
How stupid can you be? Just released movie with assigned seating, nope going to seat where ever I want

I buck up as well. Well worth the money. I like the isle seats incase I have to use the washroom. I drink as much coke as I like and don't worry about pissing people off when I have to go.

Can't wait for the VIP theatre to open up in the south (Seton I believe).

18+, licensed, servers come right to your seats before the movie starts, huge comfy chairs with fold out tables.

Totally worth it.

The best part is getting the two seaters on the other side of the aisle.

Did the VIP in Toronto. It is amazing, you sit on a leather love seat with a movable arm in the middle and I had a Stella or two while watching. Best of all...... No teenagers!

This is the first I have heard of this and it sounds like my kind of place. Maybe I will start going to movies again.

I'm surprised no other (Cineplex) threatres in town do this. Really hate the booze rules at Chinook. Therefore just make my wife stuff some liquor in her purse to mix with their sodas.

I think all movies should be with reserved seats. It leads to a much nicer experience...no need to rush, no need to be there early, no need to save seats.

Yeah no kidding, I'm always torn because I want to get the reserved seating of AVX or IMAX, but I don't want to see a 3D movie and most of the time they're 3D in AVX or IMAX.

But then maybe people would just skip the ads at the beginning.

These VIP theatres sound pretty cool. What's the cost in one of those?

The best part of reserved seating for me is that the majority of the time, there won't be any little kids there - totally worth the extra dollars for me. Yes, i am a grumpy old man

Reserved parking too. I loathe being there early just so I can get a parking spot.

I'm with Photon on this. I love reserved seating, but sure wish we saw it more often on non-3d movies.

Im more excited about the 18+ aspect than anything. Nothing in a theatre pisses me off quite like talking kids/teens and idiots that bust out the cell phone in the middle of the movie.

As much as I love reserved seating it costs too bloody much. Not many movies are worth the regular price of admission these days, let alone $20 to see a 3D movie in AVX/VIP. Then if you wanna buy food and whatnot the price skyrockets to like $50 a person (if you factor in gas).

You could probably take a nice trip instead of seeing 10-12 movies a year.

There really should be a monthly/yearly movie pass, in which you can see as many movies as you want if you spend a few hundred on one every year. I know some chains in the States have a program like that running.

It looks like it's offered in the US by www.moviepass.com. $35 per month and you can see one movie every 24 hours. I don't think it's offered in Canada though

prices are insane to go to a movie with a family...after snacks and what not its over $100

now I bring in my own snacks and don't even hide them, they can EAD

monthly pass is interesting, but not that many worthwhile movies per month

+1

However I'd much rather be annoyed with little kids than have to argue with delta bravo and his girlfriend who took our exact seats and flanked the neighboring seats for their jackets.
