You were talking about how people can put up with others that believe this crap. Like I said, people have the freedom to believe what ever they want. Me and you will say its ridiculous and utterly pathetic, but that still doesn't make it wrong to believe.

You are correct in that they have a right to believe what they do, however, I am not quite sure they have a right to push their views on others.

IMO its called freedom of expression. You have the right to slam the door on them too. Or do all sorts of verbal things that will make them angry. So angry that they won't come back.

I consider them Christian. Christianity has such a wide base of sects that don't follow every Christian rule but still call themselves Christians.

I think the worst thing to do to them is actually act interested and just waste their time.
Edit- I have a Jehova Witness HQ near my house. I want to go over there with Scientology stuff, knock on their door at 2 am (because doing it to them at dinner time would be pointless) and try and convert them to the other cult.

These are the folks that publish the little comics (aka tracts) that you find in big cities on the c-train and what not.
Scary...yet somehow amusing stuff.

those cartoons are hilarous. The one against Muslims reminds me of the propoganda the Nazi's were publishing in WWII.

Again you might not...but they are part of the same group....I would think that JWs might take offence to you not considering them Christians.
Christian Fish
There are probably thousands of different definitions of the word "Christian." We have chosen the same inclusive definition as is used by public opinion pollsters and government census offices: A "Christian" includes any group or individual who seriously, devoutly, prayerfully describes themselves as Christian. Under this definition, Christianity includes: Roman Catholics, Southern Baptists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, United Church members, even a small minority of Unitarian Universalists, etc.

I wonder if there is an alternate ending one, where the dad and kid's heads are rolling down the street. That stuff is crazy!

My brother volunteered at the hospital several years ago in the palliative care unit, and met a Jehovah's Witness patient who tried to brainwash him, and started in on my family as well! My brother's job was to sit around and keep people company, pretty much, so this man would casually ask different things, "What do you do in your spare time?" "Have you lived in Calgary your whole life, etc, etc." So throughout the time, he was probably gathering notes about my brother and his family, because a few months later, we started getting calls at our house from this guy!!!
He would call our house and try to harass my brother, and if anyone else picked up, he'd try to push his JW beliefs on them as well! When my brother finished up his volunteer term, he told the guy that he was moving to Las Vegas, and that he should just stop calling our house. So the calls stopped for awhile...
Then one day, we had a strange "sales person" come to our door, asking if we wanted to buy some steak. I thought that in itself was a little bizarre...like anyone is going to buy some meat coming from the back of a suspicious van! So my brother just said, "no thanks," and that was the end of it.
A few weeks later, the JH from the hospital calls again, and I pick up, and he asks if my brother is there, and I say, "Nope...he's moved to Las Vegas," and he goes, "No. He hasn't. He lied to me. I found out that he didn't in fact move to Las Vegas and that he is still living there."
Anyways, I'm SURE it had to do with the steak in the back of a van thing. I'm pretty sure this guy got our address from the phone book (he had gotten to know my brother pretty well and likely knew what community we lived in, and stuff like that) and got the steak guy to come pay us a visit. So finally, my brother had to call him at the hospital and tell them that if he didn't stop harassing our family, he would call the police.

My Grandfather was basically disowned from his Family because he refused to be a JW, and had a blood transfusion on top of it.
Didn't speak to his brother for almost 20 years and only recently got back in touch. Pathetic really.

 Creeeeeeeepy.
These people are really odd. I've known a few of them over the years (including my uncle, aunt and cousins), and they're just...odd...that's the best word for it.
I answered the door to JWs one day wearing a Black Sabbath T-shirt (entirely unintentionally, I just happened to be wearing that shirt that day) it was the 'Born again' cover shirt...it has a bright red baby demon looking thing on it (looks a little like this ) . The conversation was very short, and those particular johos never did come back, though others did.
I strongly recommend keeping your MOST offensive t-shirt near the front door, it can be quite effective at putting them off balance immediately, which is an advantage for you in trying to get rid of them with the least amount of effort/anger.
On a serious note, I tend to be a fairly tolerant fella, but I cannot stand these people, they make my blood boil with their foolishness. Being a little foolish is tolerable, but when your foolishness can kill people, including members of your own family, that's waaaaay beyond ridiculous.

I might have responded to this comment with something like "Ok, so then tell me, what exactly is god punishing you for when I punch you in the mouth and knock a couple of your teeth out?" and then punch him in the mouth...unless it was a her...in which case I would leave out the actual punch part...I guess...

My ex g/f's family is JW... Mom is cool. Never really tried to push anything on me. Dad and older bro weren't quite so cool. Brother is just a condescending SOB who thinks that I'm going to heel, and is glad about it. Dad tried to convert me one day, but went down in flames.
Wanna hear something freaky about that religion? They believe that 44,000 people are going to heaven. The rest of the believers are going to some place that may not be as cool as heaven, but is better than hell. Actually, IIRC it's earth, post apocalypse.
So yeah, the 44,000. God let's you know if you're one of them, and dad believes that he is. So he's a special JW. So special in fact, that he had his daughter (my ex) booted from the religion for dating me. (Actually, it was because he was recording the phone calls in the house, and she was telling her friend about our first or second date and that we fooled around a little in my car afterward). (god only knows what he'd do if he knew what we did since then).
Stupidest. Religion. EVER.
Dad and mom got divorced a couple of years ago. Huh, guess not all is well in paradise.

I think lots of people get into a religion not because they really do believe, they just like the feeling of being "right" and self-righteous and better than others, so they convince themselves that whatever they believe is the truth and everyone else is deluded.
