Drew Doughty says the #LAKings knew they would come back against SJ after one win. "You could see it in their eyes ... and their captains."

I think the big difference to me when people point out that LA was almost out if it in the first round is that it never really felt that way. For some reason, just watching the games you knew they were going to come back and win. NYR do not have that feeling at all. Even up 2 in the 3rd you sat there thinking they are going to lose this game.

LA is dictating the play, the pace, the style. NYR is changing their style, they were not a hard hitting team yet they have thrown more hits in these finals than any other game this year. When they were down they came out hitting and trying to rough them up, it didn't work and it's exactly what LA wanted them to do. LA doesn't change. Up, down doesn't matter they just keep coming in waves. Very impressive.

NYR will put forth an effort in tonight's game but LA walks away champs.

More MSG scoreboard fun. Apparently the Kings are making some lineup changes as well

I disagree, I think NYR might just mail the last one in and stay home.

You can point to the OT games or the 2 goal leads, but the only lead that matters is 3-0 and that is an ass kicking.

To me, that's a very one-dimensional way of looking at things. Much like any stat, it really doesn't tell the whole story. One could succeed in arguing that the Rangers actually outplayed the Kings over the course of the first two games, but LA's perseverance won out and they took both wins in extra time. They were ultra-competitive games, and could easily have gone the other way. The third game the Rangers just seemed flat.

In my humble opinion this series has been far from either a dud or an ass-kicking, despite the fact the Kings are poised to sweep tonight.

I'll agree, the first two games were tight, and this has been a fun series to watch, but I also have to agree with Gala, I never felt the Kings were going to lose.

Nobody will remember and/or care that New York put in a decent effort, if they get swept, that's the only stat that will count.

I was hoping for this to be a good long series, but now I just want the Kings to finish it off tonight. Warm weather is finally here and it's time to focus on the World Cup!

Haha! Right! The Stanley Cup ends on Wednesday and Brazil plays on Thursday, perfect!

Might be the only lead that matters, but it doesn't tell the full story of this series. When we look back on the series, will people say "Rangers weren't even close to winning a game, let alone the series"? No, because that would be untrue. Its only an ass kicking if the Kings win all 4 games by 2 or 3 goals and at no point did they look in danger of losing the series. For good portions of both the opening 2 games, things were in the balance and had the Rangers snatched either game(or both), then things could have been very different. Same with game 3. Three fortunate bounces/deflections give the Kings three goals, 2 unreal Quick saves keep the Rangers out. If that luck swings the other way tonight, then we might still have a contest on our hands. Unlikely, but you never know. And I think you are doing the Rangers a massive disservice by claiming this has been an ass kicking.

Fair enough, but the spirit of my initial comment was to suggest that the cup was going to be won by the Western champs and that the Eastern championships were effectively only for show as a result.

The Rangers could make it as close as they wanted, but it seemed fairly clear that they never really stood much of a chance of actually winning it.

Now lets see if they can even win a game.

I think the NYR played the best in game 3. They had some serious zone time and offensive pressure. The first two games they got easy goals. Even Sutter said that, easy goals meaning that the NYR didnt have to work for them. It was enter the zone, shot from the point and it either finds a way in or drops to an open ranger. No zone time, no cycle etc,

Overall this has been a good series, better than I expected.

Would prefer the Rangers win tonight, so that the Kings can win at home.

If every game goes to 3 OT periods and you lose them all, you got your ass kicked. Losers can use puck possession stats or zone time or shots or puck luck or any other stat/excuse. Rangers string together a win or two, and it's no longer an ass kicking.

The Kings outshot the Rangers in the third periods and overtimes of Games 1 and 2: 22–5 and 24–16 respectively. I would argue that the Rangers had excellent starts in both those games, but were progressively overmatched and then dominated by the Kings as the games wore on.

Losers point to their corsi and zone stats and whine about doing their best. Winners go home and drink beer out of the Stanley Cup.

I think the only reason NYR even made games of it in 1 and 2 is that LA didn't look very good. Slow, lots of turn overs and bad defensive decisions. Nothing like what you saw vs Chicago. LA plays like they did against Chicago and it's easily a 4 game sweep with NYR scoring a goal or two.
