Funny that they get up in arms about that comment, but then have people spoon feed them "theories" and they eat it up no problem.

I don't even know why I bother going into that thread anymore. The general discussion of the show over there is terrible anyway.

Now the argument is about someone can actually remember such a small detail and make a connection with it.

LoL.. we better get some doctors in here next as expert witnesses.

There's almost an unreasonably large temptation to see a few book readers create a fake spoiler, ridicule the person just once for "spoiling" it, just to see them absolutely lose it.

Love that thread, it's great entertainment while we wait for the next episode.

You know, in thinking about it...is there anything in the show that is a "throwaway"? I've been pondering it some, and it seems to me that most stuff mentioned/seen is/will be important in some way. Which makes sense given the size of the source material and what they are cherrypicking from it, but I daren't mention that in the 'other place', as I'd prefer not to be lynched.

Whether or not it's a "spoiler" is one thing, I mean it technically did have a line in the show.

But the guy who brought them up admitted to reading the 1st book. It's far far far more likely he remembers the mention of the children of the forest through Old Nan's stories in Game of Thrones than he does through the single line he's referencing in the thread or a combination of both. So in that regard the non-book readers aren't wrong. Whether it's an issue to get their panties in a bunch is a different argument.

This was my favourite set piece battle episode. Better than the Battle at Blackwater.

And now one of them wants to ban anyone with any knowledge of any/all of the books at all from the thread. Guess we aren't allowed to watch the TV show and enjoy it, too...

Please do this.

Incidentally, what fake spoiler would you come up with if you wanted to do this? Maybe something like Dorne invades and sacks King's Landing in revenge for Oberyn? Bran leads an army of wargs to take back the North? A Stannis / Dany team-up? I'm actually having trouble coming up with plausible ones.

Not sure, a Stannis/Dany team up might be fun. It just needs to be something totally off base that can be proven wrong within an episode or two, so I'd have to act fast if it was this season. Or do it at the end and watch blood boil for a whole year haha.

Though, apparently a bunch of them "accidentally" read this thread, so I'm sure they'd figure it out pretty quick.

This sounds like a good prank but I think they're serious in chasing a ban. Throwaways aren't allowed on CP.

True, plus I already walk the line of getting banned often enough as it is. That would be risky haha.

Well I'm sure not doing it, my ban expired this morning... That said, given that it's all in fun I don't understand why they'd ban you for that. Bit of a hair trigger around here on that stuff it seems like.

If you just wanted to do one that would be proven wrong on Sunday it would be easy enough. Just talk about Tyrion's execution and how you hope his dying speech is done right and can't wait for Jaime to betray his family out of bitterness etc etc etc.

Maybe the Tyrion execution would work, do it Sunday afternoon, gives a few hours for people to freak is tensions are still high, entertainment had by all!

Unless a mod reading this thread specifically advises against it.

Yes! Mention a Tyrion execution.

That'd have everyone up in arms over there for no reason at all. Just make sure the mods are on board with it. Also it needs to come off as believable and not completely fabricated. Nothing wrong with an ol' CP prank right?

I would take the bullet if there is no mod objection...It would be funny since I haven't read the books.

Have it be something like: "Oh no.. episode 10 is tonight. Going to miss Peter Dinklage I just hope they do his character justice and get THE scene right. I'm already hating Cersei right now.."

Followed up by an "Oops, wrong thread" post.

Hahaha, your plans have been betrayed in the TV thread. We have a little bird in here sending PM's back to Westeros.
