Constructive criticism allowed? Forget it I'm doing it anyway...

I find both shots to be busy and confusing. Not really sure what you are going for as a theme either. To be honest they are not that visually appealing. It could help if you went with a wide aperture and shallow depth of field to bring attention to the part of the photograph you are focusing in on. I should have prefaced this by saying I'm not much of a photographer myself but am married to a pretty damned good one
