This sounds like a bad idea. It would just be too easy for her to write a couple fraudulent cheques and take off with the vehicle. I'd insist on cash and cash only

Did she also ask you to do a vehicle inspection since I'm assuming the truck is >10 years old. Hope you didn't pay for that too.

While I don't agree with the deal OP agreed to, no need to be a dick to the lady in question.
For OP, just let the deal ride out as is. If she can't buy at the end of the month, just move on. I'm sure many people looking for trucks/vehicles in the summer

You don't agree to the deal but want him to ride it out? No one was being a dickish just saying it was fishy. And totally risky on his part.

I thought since OP already called the lady to put forth the deal to hold the vehicle till the end of the month, to wait till the end of the month. If it doesn't work then fine. That's what I meant by ride it out.
Fishy is fine, stating concerns about scams, I have no problems. But some users suggested contacting her back and saying some really rude things.

Internet morality police!
Just because we suggest calling an old lady and suggest cursing at her, does not mean anyone should or would do this. Its the internet afterall.

Right, only the most honest citizens want to pay for a vehicle with post-dated cheques while you keep the title on the vehicle. I'm sure they just want to save everyone the trouble of those tedious steps like actually paying for the vehicle, insuring the vehicle, and registering the vehicle.

Maybe. Or she is just naive and broke. Either way I wouldn't do the deal, but I am not cynical enough to say without a doubt she is scamming.
