I won't speak for Zulu29 per say but the difference between an RCMP officer and a State trooper could be as small as how speeding tickets are collected.

Never had an RCMP hold out his hand for cash but the Smokey down south....

I can't speak to what the requirements are for troopers. For the RCMP it's be Canadian citizen, 19 or older, medically and psychologically fit, high school diploma, extensive background checks, security clearance and a polygraph interview.

Through training (Depot) cadets are lost to a multitude of reasons, driving, shooting, poor paperwork, poor attitude, not able to meet fitness standards or they just realize it's not for them.

Great article with some inside info from one of the ERT members who captured him.

I had some experience with the ERT in Alberta, many years ago.

Quality shooters and men.

Would it be possible to change the title of the thread as the shooter is no longer active.

Perhaps:

Moncton Shooter Captured: Rest in Peace Cst. Larche, Cst. Ross & Cst. Gevaudan

Additionally a very nice service so far in Moncton. The sheer amount of people and police to show their respects is unbelievable.

These officers gave their lives for their country and the people who live here. An amazing showing of thanks from the people they served and served with.

The whole thing was very powerful. Cst. Ross' dog crying was what did me in.

Is there still height restrictions? many years ago my sister couldn't get in because she was one inch too short.

She told the recruitment officer "I'm not applying for an airline stewardess job sir"

And on a brighter note...

The skies over Moncton about 30 minutes ago. Nice way to end such a sad day.

That Air Canada picture is fake and I'm asking a mod to have it removed. Not only is it bull, but see this flight in the air right now flying from Moncton to Toronto? It's one of two Air Canada charters for law enforcement today that they are operating free of charge and the flight crews volunteered to fly on short notice.

Please check your sources before posting any more slanderous garbage in this thread.

I'll add that it was a team effort for the flights today: air traffic control and Toronto/Moncton landing fees were waived, Esso donated the gas, and catering was provided for free.

But it's on the intertron, so it has to be true.

You're right and I removed the pic. I listened to a friend who said they just checked the website to verify but I just did myself and can see that the flights highlighted as being bumped up are actually a higher fare rate/seat class, and that they still have cheaper flex options that are comparable to other days.

I would like to think that I don't normally fall for fake pics like this, but I clearly did this time.

Oh...and the rainbow pic is legit fo sho
