Those weren't the final meetings, they're gonna meet agsin before the draft and continue to tweak the list. I'm sure his opinion will be polled.

He's the club money guy. (CBA, Contracts, Financial Strat)
It is in the Flames best interest, to keep most of those numbers close to chest.
My $0.02, into why we never hear from him.

So why bring him to the pressers?

His title is AGM. I assume they just wanted to show all of them. He had a good interview with Steiberg after the presser. I can't seem to find it on the Fan website though.

I'm guessing he has a great book on this draft but also a different view on warning signs in development.

Agreed, he may also have a good book on kids from other countries that he has seen play against Canada in all these tournaments.

I would assume because they were more or less introducing the 2014-15 Management team and to show that Holditch was still very much in the fray.

My initial reaction is obviously good. Top to bottom this seems like a very good, smart group of hockey executives with varying degrees of experience. The guy at the top has seen it all, Treliving has been getting ready for this role for over a decade now, and the two guys under him are two young eager hockey minds.
It seems like a sharp bunch that could potentially lead the Flames in the right direction. Pretty excited they gathered a group from all over, picking what they thought were the best candidates and not just former Flames.
Exciting.

Not only did they opt to shy away from former Flames (minus Connie, but he's earned it over the last 3 years) but they also opted to stay away from the league retreads.
It's a breath of fresh air for this team, and they are next generation of able minded managers in the NHL.

I'm really excited about the addition of Pascall. Some may say it's easy to pick national teams, but Hockey Canada does great work grooming continual generations of great players. Without their support of our young players we would be seeing a decline in talent coming up, which has not been the case.
Our decline in dominance at the junior level most likely has more to do with other nations following our lead, rather than HC doing a poor job.

I'm excited too. I'm just glad they're building the team for long term rather than giving up valuable assets just for a couple more points in the standings as stated by Treliving. It's exactly what I hoped for of what I wanted the Flames management's direction to look like.

Conroy says they want to give their prospects a shot at making the team rather than signing a bunch of UFAs. Mentions, Max Reinhart, Ortio, Ferland, Granlund, Baertschi, Wotherspoon. Need to get players that fit in to their rebuild plans.
Rebuild would be great if it took 3 years, more likely 4 or 5. Fans understand.
Not looking ahead to getting a GM job as he still has a lot to learn. Picking Burke's brain while scouting the OHL was great.
