Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
There haven't been any advanced talks between Isles and Boyle. In fact, Boyle camp learned of Isles' interest just a couple of hours ago

Bold moves. MacT could learn something from Snow.

Trading two first round picks for a player that isn't committed to resigning with them? Lol, please learn from Snow.

I can. Boyle has a SC ring and I think at his age money talks which the Islanders will have plenty of.

We should talk to them about acquiring their 5th pick if they're entering 'win now' mode. It would be nice to have 4 and 5.

I'm sure it's been done. Calgary probably doesn't have (or isn't willing to give up) what it would cost to get the pick.

Lots of great young D for him to mentor there alongside Kronwall.
Griffin Reinhart, Ryan Pulock, Calvin de Haan and Ville Pokka say hi.

Straight up? Probably not much. Think they'd bite on Sven + Wideman (25% retained) for Griffin Reinhart?

I think it'd be hard for them to say no to that deal... I think they'd do it if:

1) We draft the other Reinhart
2) Boyle doesn't sign with the Isles

Plus, they have a lot of very good defensive prospects to make up the loss of Griffin.

But would the Isles?

They'd at least consider it. Sven would be a middle 6 player on the Isles.

Boyle would be a good mentor for some of their young guys. Pair Boyle and Visnovsky together and that should be the oldest and smallest defense pairing in the NHL next season right?

Don't they have Nabokov still or is he an FA?

Nabokov is UFA... NY media reported there are ongoing negotiations to bring Nabokov back as a backup to Halak.

If there is one team willing to trade for Cammalleri's rights it is most likely the Islanders.

Snow likes to get a head start on UFA's and with Vanek and Moulson already having one tenure on the Island, Cammalleri is the best LW on the market.

Why the hell weren't the Oilers in on this?

Would the Isles 3rd round pick be too much to ask for Cammy's rights? Given his strong performance after the deadline, Snow might pay that to get the leg up on him. I'd gladly take a fourth or fifth tho..

Edit: I know, just pipe dream stuff I guess. Don't know if a third has ever been given for negotiating rights before.

If Dan Boyle get's a 4th/5th, Cammalleri doesn't get a 3rd.

^^ Because maybe the Oilers finally grabbed half a brain and are tired of being pushed around?
