If you're going to drive avoid Crowchild and just cut through Mount Royal and head down 8th (sorry Mount Royalites...it's just so easy).

Once you learn how to navigate through Mount Royal it is awesome. I would always drive through Mount Royal vs taking 14th Street or Elbow Drive.

This.
Although I think it's best that nobody speaks of this and we keep it our little secret.

I heard it is only a 20 minute commute to dt from Airdrie, maybe you want to give that a try.

At 8:00am and 5:00pm? When I said 20 minutes from Altadore, I meant in the peak of rush hour.
edit: *whoosh*...just noticed you said "I heard"

I teach at Alternative High School. One of neighbours phoned the school two days ago to compliment how polite and respectful our students have been. The neighbour commented about our students have been cleaning around the neighbourhood without being asked. I am so fortunate to work with such great kids. Another plus for living there.

That's an "alternative" school?!? What does that mean actually?
I lived just down the street forever and always just assumed it was a "regular" school. Heck, I thought it was a fancy school because of what looks like garden plots in the corner of the school yard. I suppose that alone speaks to it not being a contributor to anything rough from my point of view.

Super close to Mount Royal, Glenmore aquatics center, Glenmore athletic fields, Sandy Beach park and the pathway system to downtown and around the reservoir, a great dog park, tennis... It's a pretty awesome location IMO. Also really convenient to Marda Loop, which is nice for restaurants and groceries and hipster coffee. I'd still be there if it weren't for extenuating circumstances in my personal life.

The community never had an overall rough feeling anywhere, except for around Moon Grocery on 16th. Its been shot up a couple times and every once in a while I'd see cop cars near there late at night. I just assumed one of the 70's bungalos in the community would have made a good spot for a grow op / gang house since it was a nice community close to downtown and close to major thoroughfares.

I've lived in Marda Loop, its better if you are north of Richmond road. I would say its a very insignificant commute unless you leave at the very peak times. I used to get to the south east side of downtown in about 5-10 minutes.

School Motto
"Freedom to be who you are."
Unique points
Teachers and students are equals and are on a first-name basis.
Alternative High School is a democratic community. Once a week students and teachers hold a democratic meeting to determine the non-academic workings of the school. This meeting provides a forum for the school community to solve problems, air concerns, determine the nature of the agreements and negotiate use of funds.
Students have the freedom to learn in a personalized manner. Instruction is conducted in small groups or individual tutorials. Independent learning and personal projects are encouraged.
Students have the opportunity to pursue personal interests and passions on Focus Fridays where teachers provide a multitude of learning and credit opportunities to students.
Alternative High School requires that prospective students fill in an application form and be interviewed. Once accepted, students must pass an apprenticeship to obtain full student status.
Alternative High School has a mentor system in which each teacher is responsible for monitoring the progress and well-being of mentor group students.

Are we attempting to make "airdrie to downtown" the CP meme that goes so far past being overused that it becomes funny again?

Former meth house, around 12 years ago. I think city says the land has to sit for at least 7 years, so its way past that.

That would be Discovering Choices. Alternative High School has been in three locations since 1974. Our current location in Altadore, Parkdale, and Sunnyside.
