Some quotes from Burke on running a hockey team like a business and the need for a new arena:

Burke said he intends to have a parade here like he did in Anaheim, which is pretty generic GM stuff. Feaster would have said we're going to have one in the next three years and then would have proceeded to make some joke about Edmonton.

Feaster doesn't work for the Flames anymore. If you are tired of people bringing Feaster up to talk bad about him in threads then don't bring him up in Burke threads. If Burke makes a $50+ million offer for Brad Richards services or an RFA offer sheet to a player that would have to clear waivers and nobody complains then yes we can discuss Burke maybe getting a free pass with fans. See what you did?

The Nick Richie comment is a bit unsettling, but I'm unsure of the context behind it.

Really sucks to hear about Poirier's shoulder surgery. I actually thought the kid had a chance at camp this year. He looks better and better the more games he plays.

Burke's comments on shooting for the playoffs isn't a huge deal. Of course they're aiming for the playoffs. They should, but not at the cost of the future. Nothing to see here.

I think they'll make the playoffs.
About November I'll return to reality and by December I'll be drooling over our future draft pick.

Lol. Ritchie at 4th is ridiculous. I hope that's just his own personal preference talking. We need big centers before big wingers right now.

I like that he mentioned Reinhart first. I hope that's who we're aiming for.

I wonder if the shoulder had anything to do with dwindling ice time during the playoffs in Abby?

"If you are tired of people bringing Feaster up to talk bad about him in threads then don't bring him up in Burke threads." -- I never said I was tired of people bringing up Feaster to talk bad about him.

"If Burke makes a $50+ million offer for Brad Richards services or an RFA offer sheet to a player that would have to clear waivers and nobody complains then yes we can discuss Burke maybe getting a free pass with fans." -- I didn't criticize Burke for his moves or attempted moves. I was commenting on his penchant to talk big game, which was one of the biggest criticisms during the Jay Feaster era. In Burkes case, many seem to be able to take things with a grain of salt and wait for context (which is a good thing), yet with Feaster everything was usually taken 100% as gospel. I'm glad CP seems to be evolving.

See what you did? -- I see what you did

Fan 960 just played clips from the Burke Breakfast and Burke says there is a 5th player in consideration and that is Nick Ritchie.

Calls him a Lucic type player.

That's sounds like a fair comparable. What was Lucic's weight and height when he was drafted?

Loved that jab at Toronto. Something like "Some good teams in the West missed the playoffs, there were no good teams in the East that missed".

So Ritchie is 20 lbs bigger and an inch taller... A Lucic comparable sounds awesome, but the top 4 still has way more upside.

If Ritchie turns into a top 6 power forward nobody would complain. But how often do these types of players turn into Zack Kassian?

I would say it is arguable the top 4 has more upside.

It is more correct to say they have a higher chance of reaching their full potential than Ritchie. IMO

Ritchie is a Burke player. However, Burke isn't taking charge of the draft. Button and Treliving are...along with some input from Connie.

Burke also said he likes Draisaitl (and that he has a big ass).

Flames will be picking one of the big 4.

I think the Sams are gone in the top 2 picks. Florida takes a risk at losing Ekblad and picks a Sam.

It will be up to Edmonton whether or not we pick Ekblad or Draisaitl.

I love how Burke is pissed off that we're in a "state of the art 1988 building", when the Dome is actually 4 years older than that LOL
