The fact that Burke seems to have no idea when the new building will get built is a bit concerning.

I wonder if we could nab both of Anaheim's first rounders for #4?

- He probably has an idea of the progress. Whether or not there is any significant progress is a different question.

- It's not really his job to worry about a new arena, that's still King's area. Burke's job is to worry about the team on the ice and how to best improve and build the product. he's been adament that the team needs a new building to better attract free-agents, but I can't imagine he has much to do with the development at all.

I think he's up to speed on their progress but it's not his job to inform the media about their progress as any announcements regarding a new building would be made by Ken King.

Ritchie @ 4, why not call up Anaheim and ask for both their firsts plus something. Even at 10, I think Ritchie might still be there.

He's just keeping the arena on the public's and the governments mind, so it won't be a shock when they go for government backing.

On Florida willing to trade #1 overall. Burke "like throwing crumbs into a coy pound." that's how wild the activity.

Burke definitely won't be spewing the updates about the new arena at this point; that's not his role. Anything he says about it is cliche fodder.

He also said there are "ledges" to this draft... The top 5 then it drops... Then after 10 or 11 it drops again... He mentioned that they have the same chance to draft "a player" with the two 2nd round picks, that a team with #20 does.

If we can trade down and get a decent asset while drafting Ritchie, I would be all for it. I realize that there are the 4 prospects that are considered "the top 4" this year, but I really get the sense that the drop off down through the top 10 isn't that steep. It actually seems like a weak draft to be in the top 5, but the 5-10 prospects seem pretty much on par for a typical year.

I also get the impression from Burke that if it isn't one of the Sams, then we will look at trading down.
