I saw the replay, no way Sterling deserved a red. It was a poor tackle but the actual contact was minimal. Should have been a yellow. Valencia's reaction was ridiculous and basically got them both sent off.
Edit: I don't think any of it really matters though, I'm pretty sure they won't carry any suspensions into the World Cup. I'm sure it will be a quickly forgotten about incident.

Bad news for Ox. Sterling looks to be a starter, so hopefully he moves on without issue. But, I can see the media making a big deal of it.
Those numbskulls on ESPN are suggesting Rooney wouldn't be a starter. I'm sure it's just a SUN Media spin, to draw controversy, but Jesus Christ do the media love to bash England.
I can't fathom another way to immediately exclude a commentator's further insight, by suggesting such f*****kin hors**it. Whether he's behind Sturridge or 4-4-2 like it's '92.
I'm not a huge fan of Rooney in behind Sturridge. I'd prefer to see one of the two pushed out wide in a 4-3-3. Put Sterling on the other side, 2 of Henderson, Lallana, and Barkley in front of Gerrard. I think that's a pretty strong lineup with a nice mix of youth and veteran leadership.
I hope the media don't make anything of the red cards. It was silly on both sides in a meaningless game. It happens, move on.

my guess is the lineup from the Peru game is what we are going to see against Italy
Welbeck/Rooney/Lallana behind Sturridge
Gerrard/Henderson at CM
I imagine the plan is for Sterling (or Ox if the ligaments are ok) to be the impact sub(s) late in a game when we need speed, but depending on how things go I could see either start
would be surprised if Barkley starts
I thought Rooney being the only holdover from Peru today was just to get him some extra fitness
I think it'd be crazy to not start one of Sterling or Ox. Their speed is game-changing and needed to keep opponents honest right from the get go. If Rooney as the #10 is the direction England is going, I'd be tempted to start both Sterling and Ox, health permitting of course.
in Manaus though I think they will tire too much, why I would bring 1 or both on in like the 60th minute when the Italians are really starting to feel the humidity
I personally would start one over Welbeck definitely, but Hodgson seems to love him out on the left
I like Lallana starting though, gives the team a different look, I would want one of Lallana or Wilshere in the game always just for that little extra skill on the ball

One game suspension. Which begs the question if it was the game just prior to the WC.
A smart coach could just slip on 7 subs and the game is just wiped off the record.
that was a pathetic tackle by Sterling. Making that challenge in a friendly one week ahead of the WC is just downright stupid ... could have been ugly if he had connected. Valencia reacted poorly and deserved the red, but the guy once suffered one of the most horrific leg injuries I've ever seen and I'm sure he's a bit edgy when it comes to tackles since then ...
France star Franck Ribery has been ruled out of the World Cup after he aggravated his back injury in training.
However, France boss Didier Deschamps said on Friday that he had exacerbated the problem during Friday's training session and would not now travel to Brazil.

Looks nasty... Thankfully we have a deep MF and I was terrified about this too. just reminded me of the last WC when Ballack was injured in a friendly by Boetang's brother
