I strongly believe that if you leave this country to go fight as a Jihadist that it doesn't matter if you were born here in Canada, you aren't allowed back into the country, and we will turn you over to the authorities in the country that you caused trouble in. If they torture and kill you, that's your fault, Canada won't be there to help you and bring you home.
It seems way too quiet on that front.

I actually have some first connections with this guy. Not really too surprising I guess since I also went to Uleth and we overlapped one year it looks like.

That's a mis-interpretation. Its not 72 virgins, its 1 72 year old virgin and she hates men.

Or it could be a room full of 72 nerds addicted to WOW

Can you endorse him for something ridiculous like being a ###### or blowing up innocent people.

You can bet CSIS will be paying extra special attention to what is going on in Calgary.

It's good that Mr Soharward is contacting authority about these groups, which is a step forward from those in other countries that don't cooperate with law enforcement, perhaps he should make a list of radical organizations public if the authorities aren't taking it serioius

I'd like to see the naming of the people doing radicalization, but the problem then becomes that they hide behind accusations of labeling and intolerance by the non Muslim community.

This guy was an office worker in Calgary downtown like anyone else here, with a pretty normal career profile. I bet many of us passed this guy on the street during lunch.

CSIS has had a major profile in Calgary long before these guys were becoming identified. Sounds like a hive was brewing with Ashrafi and his cohorts in the last couple of years with a central congregation point. CSIS was likely monitoring the situation. He had connections with Damian Clarmont IIRC.

Holy crap. The suicide bomber in Iraq. He went to SWC High school in my grade. He also went to U of L.

I'm officially freaked out.

I would wager that these guys are being watched whether they know it or not. Talking to CSIS agents it seems like they are on the ball and do a great job of identifying threats before the worst happens. Just look at the Toronto 18 case as a perfect example. Police heard about what the guys were talking about and without getting into details had an infomant with them the whole time they were setting up.

As many as two dozen from Calgary have left to fight in Syria in the last two years.

So to be free is to "indulge in fornication and infidelity legally and limitlessly, and stagger around poisoned on intoxicants"

Wow.
