Actually there is such a thing as foreskin restoration. I believe there is a surgical route and one where you use tape to stretch out the remaining skin.

I will not be having my boy circumcised. It just seems like such a unnecessary procedure that is mainly done for cosmetic reasons (if he feels that later on in life he wants a different look then that should be his decision to make). I don't really see the medical benefits since I am not going to get his tonsils and appendix removed because of possible future problems.

For.

We had our little guy done as well.

More than one set of our friends have complained many times about the yeast infections their ant eater sons have had to be treated for.

Ugh. No thanks.

Helmet all the way.

I may be wrong, but in the novel The Choirboys, it was either helmet or anteater. For you Star Wars fans, it could be Stormtroopers and Ewoks.

I am uncut, and I remember back in the days of elementary school feeling a bit uncomfortable in the changeroom since virtually all boys of that era were clipped.

I had absolutely no problems willy wise growing up. Well, only one if you count the old foreskin caught in the zipper scenario. No infections - unlike my younger cousin that had to be hospitalized due to a festering circ - although I did have a very painful tear once, but I'm not sure if that relates to the issue at hand. My three sons are all uncircumsized.

J pold, your confusion may be due to the fact that some boys are born with a natural circ.

The authors speculate that circumcision, which involves removal of the foreskin, minimizes the area of the penis vulnerable to HPV infection.

HPV causes genital warts in men and women, and certain strains cause virtually all cervical cancers. HPV also has been linked to cancers of the vagina, anus and penis.

On the whole, partners of circumcised men were about 25% less likely to have cervical cancer than partners of uncircumcised men, a difference that was not statistically significant. But among women in relationships with men at high risk for HPV, those with circumcised partners were 80% less likely to have cervical cancer.

Co-author Keerti Shah, a virologist at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, notes that other research suggests that circumcision also reduces men's risk of infection with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. "This may be something that may be true for many sexually transmitted infections," Shah says.
How many men did they study? Is hard to say how accurate this study is. If they studied alot larger group I would take this more seriously.

Proper hygene was obviously not taught. I have never had an infection or yeast infection, because my soilder is always cleaned properly everyday.

Anyways it pretty amazing what people will talk about on a message board with a bunch of strangers.

For those advocating hygiene as the solution to infections, and claiming to practice impeccable hygiene themselves ...

Out of curiousity, do you ever go camping, or otherwise leave civilization and showers behind? If so, what do you do? Carry around a pile of alcohol wipes and excuse yourself to the bushes, or simply "let it go" and take care when you're back to civilization?

My point (and I do have one) is that there are times when it's difficult to be so meticulous about hygiene. In those circumstances, I'd rather have a mechanism that's less likely to keep the nasty stuff hanging around somewhere where it's bound to cause infection.

I dont know. These people are neat freaks in many ways. I have a hard time believing that they wouldnt teach their kids to keep themselves clean.

I am not about to dig for details though.

I am just happy my son doesnt have to worry about special cleaning procedures to get the cheese outta there.

My dog hasn't been the same since...

on an penis related note...
Has anyone seen that Dyck Insuracne place on the east side of Crowchild trail? I think it used to be Dyck Registries, because one day I was driving by with someone, and came up with the absolute gold tidbit...."Oh man....first the gun registry and now this?" Which was a perfect seguay into the "I was just cleaning it" joke.

there is no speical cleaning procedure it's called:
put soap on area to be cleaned and scrub, but not too hard or fast. You might have to clean twice.

Just to start...I don't have kids...but I have a younger brother (26) who can't even brush his teeth properly.

My brother and I were raised by the same parents, but have totally different hygene practices. IF I were to ever have a boy, I would have him circumcised for the same reason. It doesn't matter how much you preach cleanliness, once that little guy starts showering and bathing on his own, you have no control...

yeah, I'm not so sure why some people are so hung up on the extra hygene bit as an arguement against.

I mean, I have to wash my hands way more often then my penis, and I've never once considered chopping off parts of my hands so that I don't have to wash them.

This argument is like a domestic vs. import car argument. People just say what they have is best. "My dad bought a Ford, so I only buy Fords". Except for Reaper and Frank the Tank, they are the only ones that said they would do it the other way for their kids.

The hygene arguments are ridiculous, you don't get infections going camping. I haven't heard of a single person either way getting an infection that didn't come from a girl they met at cowboys.

The one thing I notice is we have two helmets saying they'd leave their kids toques, and zero toques saying they'd make their kids helmets. It seems most of the helmets just go with "Well I have it that way... and infections and stuff... gross!"

AGAINST

How hard is it to pull it back and wash it?? And the best part is, you don't have to shake, you can just pinch the rest out.

I'm against. Leave it natural, I say.

I don't have it done and I've never experienced any hygene problems or infections or whatever (and yes, despite going camping for several weeks). Nor have I ever had to do any inordinate amount of "cleaning".
