LOL, "Thick, solid, tight." Is a 'bbmisc' meme.
I used to visit that board in it's infancy when I was in my 20's, and still pop in from time to time to lurk the most socially awkward corner of the internet. It's basically a bunch of roided guys in their 20's posting mirror selfies of themselves and looking for peer approval. That board has been host to at least 2 murderers, and probably many more. Luka Magnotta and Elliot Rodger were regular posters. If narcissism had an official website the bbmisc is where it is hosted. It is like the most pathetically bad car wreck you have ever witnessed, but it is impossible to turn away.
You are now awared CP. Let the Jimmies rustle through you.

Oh, it's awful. I've only lurked there like three times, but so many funny internet memes are born there.
rodger only had like 50 posts there, BTW. Dunno about magnotta. Must be a billion users on that site, it's huge.

This is ridiculous. He is 17, who cares. I bet he can squat more than any average guy at the gym and skate faster than most CHL players. I don't know why the media cares so much, seems silly.

It would be rediculous if he wasnt an elite athlete or if something like 20 of the 120 players registered a 0, but they didnt. I believe he was the only one of 120 or so 17-18 yr olds that couldnt get it done. That does seem to say something to a number of people. Especially for an average sized guy whos game is supposed to have a physical edge to it.
If it meant nothing or nobody cared, nobody would have noticed......but they did.

I just think it means he has more room to grow. Don't see it as a bad thing at all.
I hope it makes him fall to the 4th pick.

If not doing a pull up is ridiculous enough for us a guarantee to get Sam Bennett, then I am all for it.

Even if he couldn't do a single clean pullup at the combine (don't know the details as to why but it's possible that his attempts simply didn't count as clean enough), someone like him can learn to do a bunch of them in a few weeks. When you're young, you can be fit and still have a weak part in your body that doesn't allow you to project strength to a pullup. Then some thin kid with no muscles can do 20. Meaningless in itself.

I don't think anyone's suggested he shouldn't be in the top 3 of this draft class, based on his not being able to do a pull-up.
I think we're all just talking about how strange it is. And you can't deny that... it is absolutely bizarre that an athlete, especially a top of his class athelete, can't do a pull-up. I don't believe it impedes his abilities as a hockey player... it obviously hasn't yet, and he will get stronger. But the fact he couldn't do one is pretty embarrassing and hilarious.

Is it strange?
This is the first year they've done pull-ups at the combine. I'm sure in years past, some top ranked prospects wouldn't have been able to do it either.
But we'll never know.

I'm pretty sure Bennett is the thin kid with no muscles.
I find this whole thing pretty bizarre. Wouldn't pretty much every kid that is invited try out all of the exercises at least a couple of times to make sure something like this doesn't happen?

He's not auditioning to be a trapeze artist. What counts is whether he has the required type of strength on the ice. Muscle imbalance is common and easy to correct. Muscles don't develop at the same rate and all it takes is some weakness in upper back or whatever to make pullups difficult.
Also, we don't know why none of his attempts counted. He may have done some but they didn't count. The exercise depletes your strength very quickly so if you struggle with form you might miss your chance entirely.

Bennett told TSN radio after the physical tests that he and his trainer prepared for the combine, which I find the really bizarre.
