Even the opposition has some good things to say:
Quote:
"(Buehrle) was dynamite," Royals manager Ned Yost said. "He's traditionally tough on us but he's 10-1 now, he's tough on everybody. He's a master at what he does. He commands the baseball so well, changes speeds off everything he has. He has the ability to read the hitter's reaction to the pitch before to know what he's going to throw next. If the hitter is gearing up, he backs off, if the hitter is backing off, he gears up.
"He just pitched a phenomenal game. He's just really, really good at keeping you off balance."

Buehrle is a great fit for a team like the Jays - he'll consistently give them a lot of innings of above average pitching and their offense provides enough run support to turn those quality starts into wins. Plus he's a lot of fun to watch as works so fast. I remember back when Halladay would face him and the game would end right around two hours.

Buehrle is also great from a development standpoint.
We need him mentoring guys like Hutch, Stroman and even Morrow to some extent. It's too bad Ricky got the yips, otherwise he'd be in that conversation too.

Was it moon that was saying that Buehrle was nothing more than an average starter?

That's actually a shame. No one got a conversation going better than him. He was a bit of an idiot about some things, but I never saw him cross the line.

You are kidding right? The guy was nothing but a troll and I never saw him get a conversation going, he would just come in and argue the opposite of everybody else to try and stir the pot. CP has been a much better place since moon was banned.

Pretty slow day at work... No Jays' game, draft day isn't here for the Flames, and no Stanley Cup final game to watch.
Who is our SP for the first Tiger's game?

Guess 20 years of not having a sniff of the playoffs will do that to a fan base. Hopefully they can start getting bigger crowds if they stay in the race come July and August

Last year had a big effect on this too. So much hype and so little results. I'm guessing people don't wanna get burned again.

Yeah the team's hype last year is making people hesitant.
I was in Toronto last week and when talking with some locals about the Jays they were saying that they were just waiting for the Bottom to drop out from the team.
Also lots of construction on Toronto road ways right now, especially on Gardiner, would not be surprised if people are hesitating coming in from the suburbs due to the traffic messes.

After 20+ years of garbage and over promised chances, it's not surprising that people are hesitant. Especially after not adding any payroll after last year.

Hopefully a lot more Canadian baseball fans jump on the Jays bandwagon this year.
Right or wrong cheering for the Jays outside of T.O the last 10 years has been on and off the band wagon. Much like the Raptors.

Even though they are 10 games over .500, I am not overly excited because any time I've raised my hopes, they lose 6 or more in a row and there goes your advantage. If they have a 4 or 5 game lead in September, I'll start getting excited, till then I'm just hoping the wheels done fall off.

I think that's how a lot of fans feel. Really, who can blame them? This team has been nothing short of awful for as long as I can remember. Last year was really a huge shot in the arm too, after hopes were so high. Add no upgrades to the rotation this off-season and it's just not a surprise why fans are going to be sceptical until the playoffs are actually in sight.

Red Sox, Yankees and Rays all lost today. As good as you can hope for on an off-day for the Jays.
