Nice to see the Jays bats bounce back after a terrible RISP day yesterday. Stroman is looking strong as well - that slider is just filthy.

An 11-1 lead in your first major league start has to feel pretty good ... takes some of the pressure off, I'd expect.

No home runs to account for any of the 11 runs, for the league's home run leading team. I expect to see some bench player throwing for the Royals in the last couple innings.

According to the boxscore on tsn, Redmond got a save.

How is that possible? It was already 11-2 when he came in.

Is it just because he's that bad that a 9 run lead isn't considered safe for him?

He pitched enough innings to qualify for a save.

Saves:
Rule 10.20 in the Official Rule Book states:
Credit a pitcher with a save when he meets all three of the following conditions:
(1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; and
(2) He is not the winning pitcher; and
(3) He qualifies under one of the following conditions:
- (a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning; or
- (b) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batsmen he faces; or
- (c) He pitches effectively for at least three innings. No more than one save may be credited in each game.

Darn, missed out on a good game today. Good to hear Stroman was solid. Loved this quote from him about the team's offense:

Third home run of the year for Navarro in the 2nd to get the Jays in flight! 1-0 going to the top of the 3rd.

Good start to June. Buerhle now 10-1 on the season. No doubt a below average pitcher as he was called earlier in this thread. I don't expect him to finish the season the way he has started it, but he knows what he needs to do to pitch 6 innings pretty consistently.

Should be interesting to see what AA does to bring in some more pitching depth before the trade deadline. You can never have too many quality starters.
