Asked six scouts at #NHL combine today who they would he take first overall if it was their choice. Every one said Aaron Ekblad
Interesting that both Treliving and Conroy both mentions an interview where they ask a player to evaluate himself and he replies that he see himself as the next Drew Doughty, while they se him as a stay-at-home defenseman a la Hal Gill. Wonder who that might be, can't be Ekblad can it? (Is that even a correct sentence?)

It could be Ekblad, Fleury, or really any defenseman in the later rounds they have interviewed and have interest in.
I know Ekblad has mentioned Lidstrom as someone he wants to model his style of play after so it is definitely possible Doughty's name might have been used by Ekblad too.
Watching all this makes me want Ekblad even more. I hope the flames find a way to get that first overall pick. And yes, I would trade #4 and Sven for the first overall + to get Ekblad

I think it was Ben Thomas who may have said he thinks he is gonna be Drew Doughty.
I know the Flames interviewed him and hes more of a bigger stay at home guy who put up decent points in the WHL.
