You know the Heat lost because the Blackhawks winning is front page on ESPN.com

So James with only 7 points tonight. Does this count as ending his streak of double digit scoring?

Sterling probably set this whole thing up from the get go. $2B from Ballmer is an incredible deal.

Imagine how much the Lakers are worth if the Clippers are worth $2 Billion.

Or the Knicks, the Bulls, the Celtics. There's a podcast saying there's a sports team valuation bubble. The Pistons and the 76ers were both sold below $500M before the lockout season.

So is there going to be an NBA game worth watching one of these days? Since the first round the majority of games have either been blowouts or played terribly. What's the point of even watching after watching so many intense hockey games?

Lakers will never be sold so I doubt we'll ever find out. I would guess the Lakers are worth $3 billion or a bit more.

It's such a waste of money too in terms of it going to Sterling. He's old as ####, what is he going to do with another 2 billion except die richer?

A lot of the sports bubble is based on the RSN bubble. And the Dodgers may prove to be the pin that pops that bubble.

The deal may turn out to be a tipping point in the escalating costs of sports programming. How the Time Warner Cable deal plays out may affect player salaries, ticket prices and the entire economics of the game.

I think the 2 billion dollar figure is at least partly based on the anticipation of a rich tv deal in the huge southern California tv market. But I don't really see it being that big a windfall with the debacle the Dodger's tv deal is turning into.
The other big boost for valuations is the lowered salary cap. I got to wonder how that will play out in the mindsets of the nba players. The racist owner just pocketed $2 billion because the players agreed to a lower cap. They probably start to see all the owners as the old white men they are getting rich on their backs...

The $2B price tag will give the players an edge at the next CBA. Funny how a racist owner actually ends up making more money for the players.
Be that as it may, I think Sterling will prefer to keep the team and have some fun sitting courtside. He's already rich and old, what good will another $B do for him? It's not going to buy him anything more that he couldn't afford today.

The NBA is just too predictable now days. Hopefully the Spurs make it too the finals and roasts this Heat squad.

Basketball due to its repetitive nature is very predictable. Hockey is less predictable where a lucky bounce could lead to a goal and a win.
But in basketball you are shooting 80-100 shots a game so one lucky bounce is just one basket. So it is by nature more predictable.

Since 2007 Kobe or Lebron have been in every NBA finals, and yet we never got to see them go head to head. What a shame.
