The Jets would probably be on of the bottom 2-3 teams on Iggys list. He wants to win a cup so going to a franchise that has never won a playoff game ever makes absolutely no sense

I'm not really a fan of Kelly, but I wouldn't mind Marchand, especially when he plays against Vancouver ... McQuaid is probably on the top of my list. We could offer something cheap to them for McQuaid.

I don't think he is going to go to some schmo team, but money will be a factor for Iginla. It always has been in the past.

Flames could move something like Byron and a D prospect like Ramage for Marchand and McQuaid? That frees up $6M in cap right there. Boston also needs new deals for Krug, Smith, and Bartkowski in addition to trying to keep Iggy. I might be valuing te cap space a little too much here but looking at their cap structure I really think Marchand is a goner

Byron would be perfect for the Bruins, especially with his speed he'd be the fastest on the team. I could see a deal going like:
To Boston: Byron + Ramage + Cundari/Breen (rights for a 7th defenseman) + Colorado's 2nd (54th)
To Calgary: Marchand + McQuaid + Boston's 3rd (86th)
McQuaid's + Marchand's contract pretty much equates to a 6m contract for Iggy.

^^^ this is exactly the type of deal I hope the flames can make this draft. With enough decent prospects and plenty of cap space I am really hoping for some one sided deals

Boston has to give up someone, especially with the bonus penalties they have is going to make the contract for Iggy much more difficult. And like Byron, Marchand looks like the odd man out on the team, however, the reasons are different (Byron is a C/LW, Marchand's contract). I think if the cap ceiling reaches 71.1m, they are only given 67.3m. That's pretty much losing Marchand due to the bonus penalties.

Come on man.

I never said I thought he would want to play there (and would not believe that he would want to play in Montreal, Calgary or Pittsburgh either), it was just where I wanted to see him play.
Jets to me are the plucky little Canadian underdog.

If Iginla signed with the Jets or Canadiens I would burn my Iginla jersey.

I agree. If the real contenders are only offering 3 and the Stars offer 6, I think he'd play in Dallas

Funny you should say that, I think he'd be a good veteran presence on an up and coming team like the stars.
EDIT: Stars have way more older players than I thought-Thomas, Whitney, Horcoff, and Gonchar-they could use his point totals though.

Scoring Winger

Boston and Iggy are still a good fit. The Lucic - Krejci - Iginla line was their best line all year when it was supposed to be the second line. Iggy lead the team in goals and points I believe. Price stood on his head against Boston and that's why they lost IMO. Although the Habs played great, don't get me wrong but if it hadn't been for Price's stellar play, Boston would probabky be in the finals.

Siedenburg thinks so:
Seidenerg is currently under contract for the next four seasons — so he’s not going anywhere. However, the Bruins do have some tough decisions to make this offseason, with Jarome Iginla being chief among them.
“He’s such a nice guy for all that he’s accomplished. He’s really down to earth and very good with the young players and he’s just a great guy to have in the locker room. And on the ice obviously he was really key for us. He scored 30 goals. Just really contributing, playing hard, working hard and never taking a game off,” said Seidenberg on Iginla.

There is no way we could land Marchand with that package. We would have to add Sven in that deal to even come close.

Lifetime Suspension

Marchand would run for the hills without Lucic and Chara protecting him. Not terribly impressed with the Bruins and Bartkowski in particular, he was very slow and not very big.

Too many bad teams in danger of not getting to the cap floor. Boston will easily get value if they choose to trade Marchand.

I would like to believe the Bruins would offer Iggy another contract. 3rd for pts and tied 1st for goals on the Bruins. I would say he has earned another contract and played well in the playoffs which the Bruins put a lot of weight on.

Yeah taking any and all bad contracts in order to add a good player for lower than market value.
