Has anyone been detailed at Studio City Fine Cars in Ogden? I bought one of those red flag deal of the day group buy things for there a while back. $90 worth for I think it was $29. I don't expect a heck of a lot, but it was cheap enough.

Is a cut polish only used for restoring paint colour? Seeing that come up on some sites (and in this thread).

cut polish is mainly to restore the clear coat finish on todays style paint jobs...removes any fine scratches (not past the clear) including swirling etc. the clear will dull somewhat with age, sun expose etc....a cut polish also removes this dullness. If its an enamel type paint (not really used much anymore) a cut polish will restore the paint somewhat as there is no clear....
After a cut polish a sealer is usually applied as the clear is microscopically porous

So do I want to use a carpet cleaner for my seats and carpet or an actual steam cleaner?

Well Bently never got back to me and Jed was booked solid.
I ended up going with Calgary Auto Salon off Blackfoot. Thought I'd throw a reccomendation out to answer my original question. Prices were comparable or even slightly lower, and the finished job was fantastic. If it wasn't my car or didn't know the model year differences, I wouldn't be able to tell if it was 12 years old or just came off the lot.

That's cool. I had my car detailed for the first time on Friday as I usually do this type of thing myself, but just haven't had time lately. It's an '05 but it came out looking brand new. It was $169, but I tipped $20. The place is in Avenida at 12245 Lake Fraser Way SE. You just pull up without an appointment and it takes an hour. There are more comprehensive packages, but this one was awesome for me...I can't believe how amazing they were and it was all done in the time it took me to walk over to Boston Pizza for supper.

Does the place look fairly busy? If it's that easy I'll just drive there and walk home since it's so close.

It was moderately busy when I there on Friday at about 4:45. They close at 6. If you can make it there by 5 you should be good as they have a small army of people that busts their asses to get your car clean.

Looks like a really good service. I might call a few months ahead next year and give him a try.

He did an interior detail on my WRX 4 years ago and did an amazing job. Car looked better than new.

I can vouch for this. This is probably the cheapest solution and I know one of the guys doing the detailing. Top notch guy.

Seconded. Had him do a normal service + sport wax on my 07 a4. Did an amazing job and he's also super accomodating - gave me a lift home after I dropped my car off! Paint looks so good and ready for winter!

Bumping an old thread - Looks like DirtCheap is closed and I don't have a enclosed location for a mobile detailer like Jed to come out to, as garage is currently full of stuff due to renos.
Anybody have any recent experiences with detailing places that were good and not uber expense?

Another bump to an old thread, rather than starting a new one.
Any updated recommendations?

Detailz does a good job. They are located in the Manchester industrial area.
