It's not that I don't like that people are hoping for the Habs to lose, it's their preposterous reasoning to get there. "Oh they called 911 after the Chara incident".... "They riot after they lose"... "they're divers". I mean ffs just shut up. This isn't the Vancouver Canucks, it's not the Edmonton Oilers. In day to day life are people really acting like this? The Canuck fans I know in real life and work ... I gave them playful jabs during their playoff runs. But from the sounds of some of these posters I wouldn't put it past them to be dumping full cups of coffee over Habs fans they see in person.

Go outdoors and get a grip. Or if you want, tone down the rhetoric a little here so you don't come off as a complete sociopath.

Can't some of you get it through your heads that some of us loath the Habs just as much as the Canucks or Oilers? There is no "preposterous reasoning" required as half the country or more dislikes them. If that makes you sad then you can always follow your advice and go outdoors to get a grip on the concept of fan rivalries.

If you really do "loathe" the Habs, fill your boots. I don't really understand how though considering they're across the country, we play them so few times, and we haven't met them in the playoffs since 1989 when we beat them in their barn for the cup.

To me it sounds like a lot of people are manufacturing hate.

Well half the country hated the Canucks too during their run, even though they cheer for eastern based teams normally.

Sorry to break it to you, the Canadiens and their fans are just not very likeable.

The country cheered against the Canucks because their team was, perhaps, the most blatant diving team in NHL history for a couple seasons in a row. They employed complete wastes of skin like Burrows and Kessler. They were disgracing the game and the country hated them for it. The same wasn't true of Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, and ... sorry.. the same level of hate just isn't there for Montreal. Jim Rome isn't asking Canadian callers to explain the anti Montreal sentiment.

Is the country divided? Sure of course it is. Every Leaf fan by default hates this, and there's a number of people willing to let jealousy fester into hatred. But this team isn't a group of scumbags hated nationwide like the Canucks. Sorry. Not even close.

edit.. An example: this thread. This thread for the Canucks would have been virtually 99% bashing the Canucks. This thread seems its closer to a coin flip (could be wrong I havent counted)

I, as well as all Canadiens haters don't see it that way. It's been detailed about 100 times why it's easy to hate on the Canadiens. Sorry dude, nobody likes your team.

Are you serious? Did you forget the Bruins thread? If it wasn't locked and allowed me to quote I would post at least 20 of your posts about how Boston is dirty, Julien is a hypocrite and so forth.

You've done the exact same thing this thread defending the Canadiens and finding a reason to hate the Rangers.

The Habs suck and I hate them with a passion just because of their whiny fans. I don't need to have a solid reason to hate them and really wish the whiners would just let us Hab haters hate in peace.

Wait, if you can't hate a team because they dive, their fans riot and embarass all of Canada by burning their city down and they literally call 911 for a hockey play then what should we hate a team for? Because a couple of their players beat us 10 years ago?

Those are perfectly good reasons to hate a team.

Talking about Julien whining and Boston being dirty is not defending the Habs. It's talking about Boston. Pointing out the obvious about the Bruins and not thinking them to be some wonderful magical super awesome team because they're dirty isn't defending the Habs.

What you just did there is symptomatic of this thread. ANYTHING that's not anti-Hab means the person must be a Hab fan.

You don't need my permission or anyones permission to hate. But the hate is a lot of false equivalency and reaching. This habs team isn't the diving circus that the Canucks were (and still are). To even suggest they are is pretty much an outright lie.

I try not to be one of those Canadian hockey fans that hates 95% of the league including all the other Canadian teams. I already can't stand Vancouver, Toronto, and Edmonton in that order so I pretty much have to like the Habs. I would like the Rangers too if I wasn't 99% certain they tampered with Tom Erixon

It's not because of Subban or Price or anything about the organization

for me, it's the fans

fans who parade their ole ole song and post crap like this on facebook and never shut up about their beloved Habs and the injustices against them

it'll be great to see this end

Save us Rangers!

If it was not for irrational hate and love we would not be hockey fanatics.

LOL this is like the song that never ends......

One of things I love about this forum is reading posters opinions about the game. Guess it's not going to happen in this thread/series

Why talk about actual hockey when we can all just talk about how terrible Habs fans are because they sing "ole"?

Those communists.

Did you hear a handful of idiots called 911 after the Chara hit?

I truly hope that Quebec separates! What fools!

So did we all forget the multiple Habs dives and headsnaps last night? The refs seemed to forget about them eventually, which was their own doing. So let's not paint them with a completely different brush than we would the Canucks or Bruins.

Yah, I'm going to say the Habs are just as whiny and and embellishing like the Canucks. They do so many of those stupid head snaps that even the refs were tired of it. It was sweet justice when they stopped calling all the high sticks on them. To me, the Habs are just as easy to hate as the Canucks.
