The good news is he wouldn't be able to put on that much bulk. The body will acclimate to a natural weight over an 82 game season. Beteween 170 and 175 will probably be his natural weight in about 3 or 4 years. He should be more concerned about keeping his head up. 10 pounds isn't going to save him if he gets hit with his head down.
I have a friend who grew up with a current NHLer and he was saying he is always talking to him when he's forcing down additional meals at points when he doesn't want to eat. Two or three dinners, full chickens... The rate these guys burn it off playing and practicing in insane and it's not uncommon for them to lose weight after one game and they struggle to put it back on. Crazy stuff.
Man, he looks 5' 7" at the most. Hard to tell when he's playing with some pretty big guys but I don't see how he can be listed at 5' 9" anywhere.
Also, I feel like we are talking about an animal here with the height and weight talk and how we need to fatten him up. Little weird. Everybody finds their level. JG will as well.
Catch and release regulations require us to throw him back.

i put on about 20lbs over the last 4 months, half of which is measured to be muscle. Cardio took a major dive, but if he just sticks to high tempo strength training and hitting 2g protein per lb he should be okay.
When you are short and don't have leverage of taller players you need to depend on core strength to win puck battles. Building up his legs shouldn't have much bearing on his elusiveness as nobody is saying he needs to go Pat Verbeek. A lot depends on his frame as well and how much it can carry before it becomes a detriment to quickness and flexibility.
I don't buy that at all. I have been short my entire life and played against stronger guys all the time and I am better in the corners than a lot of the bigger guys. I win just as many if not more puck battles than bigger guys than me all the time.
Gaudreau didn't make it to this level without being good in corners or not being able to win puck battles. Sure he'll get run over by bigger guys from time to time but I guarantee you his smarts without the puck more than makes up for what he lacks in size.
He needs to do what Gaudreau always does and that is use whatever has made him successful up until this level.
Conroy even said it himself that he doesn't know if he wants Gaudreau to get bigger. He might need to start working out and get stronger but weight does not mean he is getting stronger. I actually felt stronger when I was 20 pounds lighter.

He doesn't look any smaller than Cammalleri, Hudler & Byron to me. He's still just a kid & hasn't done years worth of NHL strength training yet, which would explain why he isn't as stacked as those guys.
Seriously, with a skill-set like he has been blessed with I honestly think he's going to make a fine NHLer.
