Dad is a bit of a weasel and I wonder if an old boys league like the NHL, that type of thing does not get forgotten.
It's such a long list that it's hard to keep track, but I think you may be right.

Any chance Reinhart could step right in and make a Mackinnon-lite impact next season?

I don't really want to rush the kid, but he is probably perfectly capable of doing that.

If he did crack the NHL roster on any of the 4 teams, I would think a 35 point season would happen.

Professional scouts don't base their rankings off of a players stats, so no, probably not.

Pretty unlikely. MacKinnon is a level above Reinhart IMO. Nathan has elite speed and a tremendous shot, two things Sam does not. MacKinnon was also more physically developed at the same age.

I think any of the top 4 could play in the NHL next season. Bennett may be a bit behind because he's younger and smaller, so I'd say he's less likely to play. A couple of others such as Dal Colle or Richie could play as well.

uh, didn't read it properly. I don't see any impacting like MacKinnon.

With Reinhart, what Monahan did would probably be the best case scenario give or take.

Would be really excited if Reinhart fell to 4th. I think with the bigger body in Monahan it doesn't hurt the Flames at all. I wonder if the shoulder surgery fro Virtanen slides him down a few slots. Would love to trade the pair of seconds for a chance to Grab him. Coming out of the Draft with Reinhart and Virtanen would make me very happy.

I didn't want to weigh in on the Jankowski discussion but, one of the positives I am taking with his longer development is that it is coming at the perfect time. The Flames don't need him right now and when he comes out of college (maybe after this season) he comes from a system where he will already be playing an effective 200 foot game and will just be another skilled asset coming to the 2015-2016 training camp. I think it is a better situation that sets him up for success.

Too bad I like this kid. The only good thing about this is, the Vancouver Canucks will probably stay away from him. I believe he is ranked #6 and the Canucks is drafting 6th. I just hate to see a good player gets to waste. I know it is selfish to say this but I hope he will still be available when the Flames take their 2nd pick of the day.

Highly doubtful that Virtanen's stock drops too much. He is doing the surgery mainly to be ready for the WJC's and he is a long shot to make the NHL next year.

Also historically two 2nd rounders only get you a pick in the #25-30 range in the NHL. Most lists have Virtanen as a top 10 pick, he would have to have a Shinkaruk like slide.

Based on scouting reports on virtanen, he kind of sound like Boone Jenner with a little more offensive talent. Fast, hits everything, mean. They're even around the same size.
If Calgary could somehow pick up virtanen as well as whoever we get at four, that would be a home run.

Jenner is off the charts character and seems to have a high hockey iq. Can't speak to Virtanen's character but his hockey sense is questionable. But does seen more skilled, question is can he put it together?

Especially after having Shinkaruk go down with a hip ailment. They would be dumb to take Virtanen and have two of their top prospects having undergone major surgeries.

sven and one of our seconds probably moves us up to around 10-15? patiently wait and if Virtanen or Fluery are available pull the trigger? All depends on how good the Flames think Sven can be. If he's soured on management already then i wouldnt be surprised.

Why would we trade Sven + a 2nd for a mid first rounder?

Maybe we can get another Baertschi?

Terrible, deals like this are reserved for the Florida's and NYI's of the league.

A Sven 4 years back in his development too. Not every 17 year old is ready to play on the same ice as McGrattan straight out of the gate. Big no to trading Sven.

Are there any really good players we can grab in the 2nd round? I don't know much beyond the 2nd/3rd round and would love to know some players to look after since we have 4 picks in those rounds.
